Dog Partner walking down aisle

Dogs aren’t typically bridal party members so there’s no real etiquette here. As much as I love my dog, I would advice strongly against this. Weddings are stressful environments for even the most well behaved dogs. If you do decide to have your pup present, you can have anyone walk them. Preferably someone they’re familiar and very comfortable with.

Our best man is going to walk our dogs down! We have an uneven bridal party (more guys) so it worked out for us this way. Our one male dog may stay at the alter with my fiancé and our female pup may just be the only one to walk with, they’re both super familiar with their “uncle.”

I thought it was always a bad idea to incorporate animals, even though I want to, until my friend had her little sister with downs syndrome walk their extremely timid, miniature horse down the isle as a ring bearer without a single issue. There were 120 people and flashing cameras and no issues with the pony. They were adorable.

My 10 year old dog is in the wedding - he is actually great in social settings. I’m having 2x junior rings bearer walk him down the aisle (the place is dog friendly for the ceremony). They are walking him to their aunt (who is my MOH sister), who will be sitting in the front row on the side away from the aisle. The junior rings bearer will have treats if needed (my dog will do anything for a treat).
My MOH sister has already agreed to take my dog back to the hotel (less than 5 mins away & dog friendly) during the cocktail hour.
