Dogs in ceremony?!

Dj Tanner, on November 1, 2020 at 9:59 AM Posted in Wedding Ceremony 0 18
Hey brides and grooms!
Just wondering if any of you are having your dogs or even pets in general involved in your wedding process?! Our dog is going to be the ringbearer! We will then have a caretaker take him to one of the on-site rooms after the ceremony to keep him company as they don’t allow dogs to stay with us during the reception. Our dog is our life and we could never imagine getting married without him. I don’t think we would get married at all if he couldn’t be there. He already has his tux and we are getting him a Tiffany’s collar for the big day! I know super bougie LOL and a totally unnecessary expense, but you only get married once and my dog loves bougie things. Especially clothes haha! Also, curious to know if any of you will be traveling with your pet for your honeymoon… Again that’s if Covid doesn’t ruin everything.

I totally understand. My daughter is having her dog in her wedding too. She wouldn’t dream of getting married without him. I’ve been to several weddings where people have included their dogs. I think it’s sweet.

We included our dog in our engagement photos and are planning on making her our flower girl. Still working out the logistics, but we’re planning on hiring a dog sitting service. Also planning on having treats for people to take home for their pets from our fur child to yours type sign.

We are considering it. Our dog Simba is our baby and he basically goes everywhere with us if allowed. My initial thoughts were the same as yours; having someone take him and stay with him during the reception. We also “joked” about local or very close distance honeymoon ideas so we could bring him 😂 We left him with my further in-laws a couple of year ago for a weekend and when we came home he had a medical episode either a seizure or stroke. The vets weren’t able to figure out what happened. This reason alone is enough for us not to want to
Leave him for long period because we don’t know what it was or what triggered it.

OMG! Poor baby! Yeah, we don’t go on trips without him either. Not trusting others to watch him overnight has definitely put a damper on some of our destinations that we have wanted to travel to, but still I wouldn’t trade him for the world.

We want to include our dog in our ceremony and we are trying to work out the logistics of it all. Our venue is about a 40 minute drive from our home and she isn’t allowed in the reception space, so we are thinking of getting a pet taxi service to bring her there for the ceremony and photos and then bring her home. Originally I didn’t want to do it but she goes everywhere with us and is a HUGE part of our lives, so now I kind of can’t see our day without her in it!Dogs in ceremony?! 3

It was scary. But he hasn’t had any issues since! Yes us too. Sometimes it’s difficult but we just had a great trip to Lake Tahoe with him. So many dog friendly places!

Oh and he included him in our engagement photos! Here’s one! Dogs in ceremony?! 4

♥️What a handsome little guy! Yes, we took ours on a trip up to Lake Ontario right before this whole Covid thing happened. He loves our family trips

We don’t have a dog but we have a cat. He’s everything to us & is a spoiled lil turd! The crowd would scare him so that wouldn’t be good. He will be represented in our cake topper. Dogs in ceremony?! 5
Obviously the dog would be a cat. My fiancé is a firefighter so I think this is perfect!

I'd love to have my pup at the wedding but she can be to much at times. And she can be aggressive towards certain people. She's a rescue and I think she was abused. And I think that's why she is the way she is. So we decided not to include her. If we take our honeymoon we will be leaving her with my mom.

We took photos with our dogs but did not include them in the ceremony. I wanted to, but decided against it. I was worried they would be hyper stimulated with everything going on and not cooperate during the ceremony. Our wedding photos with our dogs are some of our favorites though!

I can’t imagine my wedding without my dog, had to include him! He walked the aisle with his little tux and he was the star of the day🥰 luckily my venue is literally 5 mins away from my house (one of the main reason why I picked the place) and my dad took him home after the ceremony with plenty of pictures taken. I’m still waiting for the professional pictures to come in, can’t wait to see them!

Our dog was our ringbearer. If you do a search on WW you will see a LOT of different threads about dogs/pets being included in the ceremony.

I wish I could convince my FH to let him be apart of our big day. I'm not sure he'd be allowed though honestly.

We do plan on including him in our engagement pictures though and he'll wear a cute bandana that my future sister-in-law got him that says "My humans are getting married." He's our world so I knew we'd have to include him somehow.

Here's a picture of our Oakley:
