Doing my own makeup?

Kaylyn , on January 25, 2018 at 12:34 PM Posted in Hair and Makeup 0 16
Let me start by saying I easily have plenty of time to think this over or change my mind, but I’m trying to get all my expenses together ahead of time. I know I’m hiring someone to do my hair because I can’t do hair to save my life, but I feel like maybe I don’t need a MUA. I’ve never had someone do my makeup and I feel somewhat confident that I can do my own. Should I just hire a MUA so my bridal party can have their makeup done? Should we all get our makeup done? So brides/ soon to be brides any advice?

I also don’t even have a good photo lol but I did my makeup for our military ball and I feel like it turned out fine and I plan on wearing even less makeup for my wedding

I can do my own make up. But I personally don't want to want to do it on my special day. I would rather get pampered and not be worried. God knows If my trembling hand will let me do eyeliner lol.

Hahah I’m worried about applying my own fake eyelashes, it’s the one thing I’m terrible at. But you’re right nerves and makeup aren’t a good combo lol

I think I am pretty decent at doing my own makeup, but I am still hiring an MUA for my wedding & for my bridesmaids. Makeup that looks good in person & makeup that looks good for professional photos are two different things to me and I want to look my absolute best on my wedding day.

If you do opt to save money and do your own I would do a bagillion trials and take a bunch of flash and non flash pictures at all sorts of angles to make sure it looks good and to test how long it holds up. And for fake lashes - practice makes perfect!

That’s the thing, I don’t want my bridesmaids to be bummed that I didn’t get a MUA because I don’t want to force them to do their own makeup

You have lots of time so I would start saving up and hire someone. This way you can be pampered on your special day and don't need to worry about nerves, etc. making application difficult. Wedding day makeup is very different from everyday makeup and needs to be applied in a way that will show up well in photographs.

I decided to go with a MUA for myself and bridesmaids. Not because I didn't feel we could do our own but to pamper us. I really want to relax as much as possible.

Thank you you’re so sweet! I think my girls deserved to be pampered so I’ll probably hire one

I am a total makeup junkie, but still hiring a pro. I'm having a beach wedding outdoors. They know how to make it last, and to look good in pictures and videos (which can be a challenge...makeup can look great in person but horrible photographs, and vice-versa)

Whatever you do, just don’t use makeup with SPF in it on your wedding day Smiley smile

There's nothing wrong with hiring a MUA for your BMs only. Some MUA setup contracts where you check off who specifically is getting there makeup done and how much it is. Do you boo, whatever works best for you Smiley smile

FW says I deserve a makeup artist haha, but I think you guys are right I’ve never had to test my makeup skills in professional photos so I don’t know how it’ll look so I’m going to get one

Even if you're fantastic at everyday makeup, wedding makeup has to be done in such a way that will photograph well. Even natural light photography will wash you out, let alone when a flash is used. As long as you take that into consideration, you'll be fine either way. My favorite YouTube makeup guru (Casey Holmes) did her own wedding makeup and was stunning!

I'm doing my own make up and I'm hairdresser and I have two other hairdressers going to be with me. So to save money we are going to do hair and help anyone who absolutely needs help with makeup. Also if you do have an issue applying lashes I would recommend maybe practice in a little bit

I decided for doing my own make up.
I know the look I want and it is simple, plus I did a trial and I didn't enjoy the experience. I want to cute expenses anywhere, so I will. If you feel confident I see no reason why don't do it yourself
