No. The green tinge that some people get on their fingers is from an allergy to base metals and alloys that are mixed with gold. So the lower Karat of gold that you have the more likely you are to be exposed to this. Generally though the green ring is caused by Nickel which isn't commonly used anymore.

Rhodium is also a precious metal. In fact, it's about ten times costlier than gold! But it is generally not considered a feasible material to make solid jewelry from because it is stressed and brittle, is very difficult to "work" properly for jewelry making, and it's price is very volatile (sometimes it's 5x as costly as gold, sometimes 25x) But rhodium is fabulous as a plating for jewelry because it is glitteringly, dazzlingly, white and mirror-like. It's like chrome, only more so, and much whiter.

Rhodium plating makes diamonds look bigger and better because it's so bright that it's hard to see where the stones end and the metal begins. Nothing sets off diamonds like rhodium plating does -- but it is only a plating and therefore it will wear off and require replating.

If a person has a natural high acidity level in his/her skin, it is possible for his/her finger to "turn green" from silver or gold jewelry, especially when the weather is hot and humid. Please don’t blame silver or a manufacture of silver jewelry. The green is actually caused by oxidation, and all silver will oxidize (it's also what gives silver a tarnished look). There are some cheap jewelry items that cause the same effect. Most of them contain nickel. It's not poisonous in small quantities but it can provoke a reaction in people allergic to nickel.

If a person has this allergic reaction, it is Recommended to buy rings with Rhodium Plating. It is durable and gives silver a bright platinum sheen look.
