Donuts as a wedding favor?

Rachael, on January 7, 2015 at 9:24 AM Posted in Do It Yourself 0 14

I am having a brunch wedding in August. I was originally set on having a candy buffet for my favor, but donuts as favors has come up several times in searching online for brunch ideas. My wedding is at 11:30AM, so it is really not possible for me to order anything from a bakery and make up all the favors the day of . Would it be tacky to get mini donut holes from the grocery store the day before and put 2-3 in little cellophane treat bags with a thank you sticker? I love the donut idea because it sticks to my brunch theme, and who doesnt love donuts?! I also like the idea of an edible favor because most people throw out any little trinket you give them. HONEST opinions please?

I LOVE donuts! Plus, anything edible is a million times better to me than a trinket I'll take home and toss in a closet.

I love edible favors & I think donuts are a great idea for brunch but I don't recommend getting the ones from the grocery store because the quality isn't as great as one from the bakery. You could probably order them and pick them up the night before. You can probably ask them to pack each one individually and this way you don't have to make up all the favors the day of.

Honest opinion: I saw this title, rolled my eyes, said "Oh my goodness, here we go again..." thinking it was another hot dog wedding. I was wrong! Your idea sounds really cute. And I have seen fancy mini donuts from bakeries, not just donut holes. Though that would be pricey. I would love that favor. Go for it!

I'm doing donuts for our desert instead of cake! I know it may be weird because it's not a brunch wedding, but I do NOT care. I love me some donuts.

We found a baker who will do super basic donuts (think like plain, cinnamon sugar) for $7.50/dozen, frosted/glazed/filled donuts for $9.50/dozen, and the fancy pastries (cinnamon rolls, fritters) for $12.50/dozen. He delivers them to the reception and will bring a cake stand to set them up and decorate. He even offered to throw in sprinkles and/or frosting in my wedding colors free of charge, so even with different kinds and flavors they will all "go" together. Check out local bakeries! They're really reasonably price and at least the one I'm working with was super excited about it.

Donuts favors are very cute. I agree the grocery stores ones might not be as fresh. In addition to checking with your local bakery, try checking with your local donut shop as well. If you are ordering a large quantity sometimes they are a little more flexible in pricing and delivery options.

You could use Dunkin Donuts or Tim Hortons mini donut holes (if you have one near you.) I would think you could get a ton of those for relatively cheap. I think its a great idea! I would love to go to a wedding and leave with donuts haha.

Haha. I love this thread! My FH wants to have doughnuts instead of a groom's cake, but he's afraid it would be tacky etc. I'm glad other people are doing it too.

I love this idea! I want to do something similar but have mini donuts or donut holes in the out-of-town guests' welcome bags. Not sure about the freshness factor though...let us know how long they stay fresh if you do this!
