Door County Wisconsin Mini-Moon

Natalie, on August 11, 2016 at 11:22 AM Posted in Honeymoon 0 3

This may be a shot in the dark here but has anyone taken a honeymoon in Door County? FH and I are taking a mini-moon up there the week after the wedding (doing something bigger closer to the one year anniversary) and are looking for recommendations!

His family has travelled up there forever and we've spent many weekends up there but we've never spent extended time. We're going to do the obvious wine tastings, fish boils, hikes, golfing etc but would love to hear what others have done/plan to do!

I've never honeymooned there, but I live in Wisconsin and have been up to door county many times. There are tons of wineries and orchards. They have hop on/hop off trolley tours of wineries. Ridges Sancutary, Peninsula State Park, The Garden Door, Ellison Bluff are few things i can think of. There are also some companies that do adventure activities like zip lining, kayaking, fishing tours, etc. Lakeshore Adventures is one.

I grew up in Door County. That means I have the distinct "pleasure" of occasionally looking at DC as a boring place. Haha! But I recently rediscovered it when I pretended to be a tourist with some friends last year!

We did lots of wine tasting! There is also a fun history of haunted areas and one of the trolley tours is a tour of haunted areas! Peninsula State Park has an ampitheater with Peninsula Players outdoor theater performances that are always fun!

You should really check out Cave Point! It is beautiful. If I were still local, I would for sure do engagement pictures there!

Not Licked Yet is a tasty ice cream place, and The Cookery has really good food!

Jenni - Not Licked Yet and The Cookery are staples when we go up there since FH and FILs always stayed at the same place in Fish Creek! Smiley smile
