Door prize at wedding expo- scam?

Brielle, on July 15, 2017 at 10:45 AM Posted in Community Conversations 0 3

I recently went to a wedding expo with my FSIL (she's marrying my brother) and there were raffles for stuff like $500 target gift card, Hawaiian vacation, etc.

FSIL and I both got emails saying we won a door prize. It didn't say what the prize was, and said you have to go to the next wedding expo (there was a list of upcoming events) to claim the prize. Is this a scam/possibly junk prize or should I take the time to go? Has anyone encountered this?

I don't know if it's a scam or not, but I did win a $1400 credit at a luxury jewelry store at a bridal expo. No scam and no catch.

I used to work for a company that sold China, Crystal and cookware. We used cards filled out by brides at shows to call them and tell them they won a prize. Truth was everyone "won", but to claim their gifts they had to sit thru a 90 min presentation on our items for sale. If you get calls like this ask questions, lots of questions. If it smells fishy it probably is

I did!! We were told we won a free flight for our honeymoon plus one additional flight. But we would need to attend this mandatory lecture on time shares and give them a credit card for access to the lecture. Total BS. Don't fall for it!
