My mum just asked me whether I plan to take my FH's last name, and it got me thinking. I definitely want to incorporate it somehow. I've been reading through old threads and haven't found a situation similar to mine because I have a "double barrel" first name.
First name: CarrieAnne
My last name: Bates
His last name: Thompson
Does CarrieAnne Bates-Thompson sound odd? What about CarrieAnne Thompson-Bates? For me, it sounds kinda sing songy because of the two names on both ends. I also know that can be annoying for DMV purposes. The hassle of having two first names can be tricky enough for them.
Another options would be using Bates as a middle name: CarrieAnne Bates Thompson. I could also drop Bates altogether and be CarrieAnne Thompson, though I worry my family might be sad.
I don't have a middle name so that wouldn't be an issue. Any thoughts?
