Double wedding with your sister

Missys984, on May 11, 2015 at 9:18 AM Posted in Community Conversations 0 33

Today is my mom and dads 41st Wedding Anniversary. My mom also shared her wedding day with her older sister. My mom is one of 14 and was married in Portugal.

Not sure if this was a thing but I could NEVER share my wedding day with someone else. I guess it was easier/ cheaper but talk about sibling rivalry. The funny thing is to this day they still "compete" and compare everything, including their children. They love each other, get along great, and hang out like best friend but its constant. And I'm sure it will continue until the very end.

Would any of you ever share your wedding day with someone?

Nope, i think the idea is sweet but i could never have done that. i would have been pissed if there were things that i couldn't do because the other person didn't like it.

I could totally see it if we were having a small, family only wedding. Two of my cousins have gotten engaged since we've been planning our wedding, and the aunts and uncles say they should just piggy back onto my wedding, which would be fine, except our friends and FH's family would be like, WTF?

I'm with you ladies. I could never share it.

My parents are from an island in Portugal. My mom/ aunts side of the family is big but back then not as big. And my dads family is small and I believe my uncles is also. They grew up in an area where everyone knows everyone so it wasn't weird for their husbands family's to see the other. Just crazy to me.

And now after seeing this I wish my mom kept her veil because I want it. My mom and dad are the ones on the left. They look so young Smiley smile

I think it's sweet. I totally wanted to share with FH's brother! They're getting married on the 24th. I guess everyone wants their special day though. Haha.

My FBIL/FSIL are getting married a couple of months after us. If they had suggested a double wedding..I'd have smacked someone.

No. Our wedding is 8 months after my sisters and it's an issue for her. I can't even discuss wedding stuff with her at this point unless it's about her. Lol! Good for them! I wish it wasn't such a completion!

Well, I know a set of twins, and the engaged twin has been postponing her wedding date for over 3 years, because her twin sis is single, so she rather not have a wedding, and leave her sis behind. we are guessing when both are engaged the will set a date close to each others. weird.

I wouldn't do it! A few months ago there was a news story about triplets that got married on the same day. They looked exactly alike!

No, I wouldn't share my day with my sister (my only sibling), but in fairness, I wouldn't share a meal with her, either. (We don't speak. She's moderately to severely evil.)

I went to highschool with these girls that have a big family, i think there are 6 girls and one brother. 3 or 4 of the sisters have gotten married in the past 1.5 - 2 years.

i think for big families it kind of makes sense lol.

ETA; I think i saw a SYTTD episode where two sisters were attempting to share a dress because their dad gave them a budget and the one sister wanted double the price. they ended up getting different dresses

My sister and I got engaged 2 weeks apart- my dad tried for this- we both vetoed the idea.

I officiated a double wedding for 2 best friends marrying 2 best friends. But, it was not a first wedding for any of them, so I guess they had already had the spotlight and wanted to share their destination weddings. Theirs are the feet in my avatar.

Wow I've never really heard of people sharing their day. Triplet wedding is just crazy to me but I guess if you are trying to save and you are close, why not.

@surfergirl share a dress? I would never unless it was my daughter who wanted to wear it. No thank you!
