Down payments on venues

Dora, on July 28, 2017 at 1:02 PM Posted in Planning 0 31

How much are down payments usually if the venue is no more than $4,000. Of course everyone is worried about the financial aspect of wedding planning and we are trying to make a reasonable budget for our wedding. Our guest list as of now is approximately 85 people. We are looking for a barn type venue. Any suggestions and advice or knowledge ?

We have a rustic banquet center and it was $2400 for Friday and Saturday. Our down payment was $600 to book and full payment by a month before the date. ETA words

The venue near us that was $5,000 (not an all inclusive) required 50% to secure the date. Our venue required about 15% of our food and beverage minimum.

No usual. Mine was about 4K and all I had to put down was the security deposit of $450. Just look around and ask. Good luck!

It depends on the venue and what their contract requires.

We looked at venues that had deposits as low as 250$ and as large as 1000. Speak to the coordinator and ask what that venue requires. sometime's its a flat fee and someplaces its a percentage (ie 25% of total to hold or a 500 fee etc.)

We had to pay the fee to rent the venue as a deposit. 50% of food and beverage estimated cost is due 1 month before, the remaining is charged the day of.

Our venue was $875 (church members, so we get the banquet hall at a discount) and we had to pay all of it to secure the date. We have t9 pay an additional 20% of our catering about 2 weeks before, total for the venue was about 2k.

    Totally depends on venue.

We saw huge ranges in our area. Our venue had a $2k deposit regardless of day or minimum spend based on the day of week.

Our venue had us put 20% down to book and then the next 75% is due 3 weeks before the wedding and the last 5% is due one week before the wedding when we give the absolute final count

I paid $1500 for the venue deposit and $1600 deposit for the caterer (the caterer owns the building and we had to use them).

Where I work we take the venue fee and ceremony fee as the deposit. Anywhere between $****

My ceremony venue cost $1800 and had to be paid in full to book our date. Reception venue is $700 to rent, but only $150 to book as the food and alcohol will be tied into reception venue cost.

Our venue required a $300 refundable deposit to secure the date. Our venue is close to $7000 but includes food, DJ, cake, bartender, DOC, tables, chairs, and most of the table decor minus flowers. Our final payment is due 30 days out with our final headcount.

Ours is $5000, and they required a down payment of $750, then another $750 6 months before the event.

Our venue rental fee (included chairs and tables) was $8500 and we had to put down half to secure the date - so $4250. The other half was due I think 5 weeks before the date?

My venue comes to about 8k and we had to put $1000 down. We didn't know the final price until just recently because obviously it's more money the more people you have, food choices, etc...

ETA: also half was due at the 6 month mark minus the 1k
