Dress anxiety still....3 months after purchase

irin997, on January 13, 2011 at 2:12 PM Posted in Style and Décor 0 67

Anyone else have this problem? I love my dress, I do, but I'm not 100% sure it's me or the look I want. I have continued to think about the very first dress I fell in love with on my 2nd shopping trip. I know it's a HUGE no no, but I'm going to try it on again tomorrow night at another shop.

Anyone else have dress anxiety for months after purchasing their dress?

Don't get me wrong, I love this dress. But I just don't know how "me" it really is. This is the dress I keep thinking about...it should look very familiar to oorahnik! Smiley smile

I love my dress, ordered and still thinking whether I should 've ordered it in white or ivory, I ordered in ivory, going to another shop to try it on again in both colors, so here... you are not the only one ;-)

Hey Irin. I say go with the one that stays on your mind. Your dress is the one thing that is ALL ABOUT YOU, so go with the one that represents you the best. Hope this helps

It is up to you as it is your day and you want to feel special. I love #1 and all the bling it has on it.

    # 1 is nicer IMO. Lots of brides have # 2 dress at the moment- therefore the first is more original looking too.

For those that actually bought a 2nd dress, are you happier?

Yep! I still am not sure about my dress. It is fun to be in and my mother picked it out, but it is very big and I wanted something form fitting. I already bought it and don't have the money for another Smiley sad

    !!! My dress!!!

You know I actually saw this other dress in Brides that had a similar bottom but a slightly different neck line with on the shoulder straps and I bout had a heart attack because for a second there, I WANTED THAT OTHER DRESS SOOO BAD lol. But then I had to remember the feeling I had when I put on that Allure dress that I purchased and just turn the page lol.

I think we're always worried that the next dress will be better than the one we have but you got that dress for a reason. I say stick with it. :-) Unless you're ballin and can afford the second one too! :-)

Oh yes! I am right now actually! The dress I really really wanted at first, the sales lady of course pulled it and said this has all the features you want, but its out of budget. She wanted me to try it on because it had a true sweetheart neckline, and of course I feel IN LOVE for a 2nd time lol. But my mom refused to get it bc it was to expensive, i think it would've been around $700 after taxes and all, i think it was on sale for 650. So I decided on my next favorite, which I love, but again, I'm having second thoughts. I can't stop myself from trying to find and looking for another one. I'm know it would hurt my mom's feelings if I got another one, and at the moment I have no means of getting another dress... so I have no clue what to do.

And the one that I really really want I know david's bridal doesn't sell it anymore, I've found it on ebay, but of course not in my size. I have a question for you, do you not like the entire dress or is it just a certain feature you don't like about it? In my case, my only thing I would change about the dress I have now is for it to have a sweetheart neckline as well as a longer train. Other than that I love the one I have

Things I love about the dress I don't have: everything! I wouldn't change a single thing. I love the pleating in the front, I love the buttons down the back, I love the material, I love the flowers, the band around the waist, and the little cut out piece of fabric on the bust area. It's classic with a modern twist.

Things I would like to change about the dress I do have: sweetheart neckline, which probably cannot happen or will be very expensive because of the beading and I'm not sure how much I like the lace overlay. Also, the bust area doesn't fit very well, which I know can be changed in alterations, but it's loose in some areas and tight in others. Also, I don't know that this dress is classic. I think it could easily look dated.

    Ugh!

I actually battled this same issue up until the week of my wedding. I did order a second dress but ended up wearing the original one I bought. SO...I had two dresses, only wore won, and ended up never using the 2nd one I bought. I think every bride goes through this battle (I have talked about this with several other brides). Ultimately, wear whichever one you are most comfortable in and feel your most beautiful in.

Also...not that you asked, but my personal opinion is that the first dress looks amazing on you. It seems to fit your body perfectly. The second one is beautiful too but it is a bit more simplistic.

    I have two dresses.

I bought my tulle ballgown after trying on a dress and loving it (even crying) but our budget wasn't to buy a dress the expensive. After buying the tulle dress,I couldn't stop thinking about the other one.

After a dress accident (my train got torn on the tulle dress from the zipper on the dress bag) I knew I should've gotten the other dress.

FH saw how happy I was looking at pics of the other dress and said "Go ahead, that's your dress".

I am SO happy I got the dress I really loved.
