Dress appointment question

Lynne, on January 27, 2022 at 12:01 AM Posted in Wedding Attire 1 16
I went through David's Bridal site and favorited 11 dresses. I know in 1 appointment there's not enough time for that many. There are 5 or 6 that really have my attention. Should I just try those on and ignore the others?

2 of the 6 are ones that had my attention about 3 years ago but never tried on because out of budget. But now they are in budget. There is 1 that's new.
What do I do?

I would show the consultant the ones you like and let them pull some options. It's also unlikely that they'll have all the styles in stock. If you don't find "the one" in your 1st trip, you can always come back and try on more. There is no mandate that you must buy one on your 1st trip.

This will be trip number 3.

First one the consultant was not helpful at all, I left the store feeling defeated. The second consultant, different location was so much better. She listened to everything especially me never trying a ballgown. She pulled a ballgown and I almost cried.

I have seen (YouTube or say yes to the dress) brides printing out the dresses they like as well as pictures of the venue, décor, and inspiration and bring them into the appointment so it gives the consult more of a idea of what you're looking for. Also a consult on Say Yes to the Dress said something that did stick with me, "Never judge a dress on the hanger". When I do start looking, I would try on something I normally won't want just to see how it looks and if I don't like it I wont show it and I'd take it off.

I always told myself I don't want a ballgown because I am not a girly girl. So I never tried one on. My consultant brought one to me and I actually liked that it hid my trouble spots

I would email your consultant the pictures of all the dresses. She can see which are in stock and pull them for you

Your consultant will know how much time you’ll have and when you get there (if she’s a good one!) she’ll likely ask you if you have any favorites! I’d also go back over and see if there’s any you’re feeling “eh” about. Sometimes trying on too many dresses can be overwhelming!

The last time I went she had a print out of my favorites then while she got my dressing room ready she let me browse through the dresses.

I am assuming you are going back to that second consultant, so you already have a head start on her knowing what you like and what looks good on you! I would try to rank them and ask your consultant upon arrival how many you can try on in your appointment time. I would also tell her your ranked order and ask if she has any off list suggestions or thinks you should scratch any off your list.

Good idea, oh most definitely the same consultant. I asked for her specifically when I scheduled the appointment.

You can always make a follow up appt or ask for extended time. If you make your appt close to closing they may be a bit more flexible as they don’t have to sandwich you in between other appts. Good luck!

So then I recommend changing it to a later time. This tactic worked for me at many of the bridal salons that I visited. I never did David’s bridal but I’m pretty confident there’s flexibility there.

Luckily the appointment is 90 minutes. I can't reschedule for the same day, the important people I want there are only available at the time I scheduled.

You MAY be able to try on that many dresses in that time, depending how quick your consultant is. I tried on about 9 and picked my dress all in 60 minutes.

I didn’t go to DB, but I tried on 12 dresses at my single appointment. THE dress was the last one I tried on. My appointment was 2 hrs.
