Hi all - just a little help needed on how to word the dress code for our beach wedding. I keep getting the question and I am just not sure how to describe it. It is a daytime brunch wedding on the beach (feet in the sand, reception in a tent next to ceremony). I would like my guests to dress nicer than they would to hang out by the pool, but I don't expect suits or formal dresses. For example, guys can wear khakis and short sleeved button down shirt, girls could wear a sundress. What is this type of attire called? I basically describe it that way to folks but it seems like there might be a word for this type of attire. Any thoughts are helpful Smiley smile

Thanks for the input, y'all. Just to clarify, I didn't put it on the invites, I was actually going to add a small blurb to the wedding website because I keep getting the question. Also to clarify, I am not trying to tell people how to dress...I am actually more concerned that they might think they have to overdress (e.g., wear a full suit) when that is not necessary. Heck, I didn't even tell my bridesmaids what they should wear and had them all pick out any purple dress that they wanted so I am certainly not going to start with my guests! I appreciate all the input, I think day party attire does the trick.

I think "brunch wedding on the beach" would tell me how to dress. People who would dress like they are hanging by the pool will stand out, and can handle their own embarrassment. It's not your place, or responsibility to tell people how to dress.

Sorry guys, I didn't realize this was such a weird question. I only asked so that maybe if I found a way to put it on my website it might curb some of the questions. Again, I am not telling people what to wear. Honestly, I am not that type of bride. But I agree, if they ask...then I wanted to have an answer. Clearly, its confusing either way so I will just wait for the questions.

I had to look at your profile, I thought this might be the Sirata! I’m getting married next door at the Tradewinds Smiley smile

I’m telling people beach formal if they ask but ours sounds a little fancier than yours. Maybe beach semi-formal? I know that’s not “official” but if you told me that, I’d wear a sundress and FH would probably wear slacks and a button-up.
