Dress Code!

Jessica, on February 25, 2020 at 4:08 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 12

Hi everyone,

so my friends and family have been asking what kind of dress they should buy for my wedding and I am stuck on words to describe!

SO our venue is rustic/modern, its 100 guests I want it to be a very home family vibe, think chic backyard wedding (but indoors) I don't want people to spend a fortune on a dress because it is not a fancy wedding. (my cousin got married last year and had a very nice gala type wedding) so I don't want my family to think it's that same type of wedding.

My FH isn't even renting a tux he is going a little more casual

Anyway I hope I am making sense on my vision. Any ideas on how to put all this into a more simpler explanation.

We live in Texas and are having a more laid back rustic wedding. Our dress code is Dressy Casual i.e. jeans and button ups with cowboy boots are acceptable. lol

I used to listen to this podcast when I first started wedding planning and they have this guide that I was able to use to describe what I wanted my guests to wear.

We told everyone dressy casual for ours. The majority of the guys wore khakis and polos and the women wore casual dresses with sandals or slacks/jeans with a nice blouse. The only thing we did ask was for no one to tank tops or flip flops.

I’d look up the definitions of the different dress codes and pick from there, it’s much easier for people to understand if you use a universal term that can just be googled if someone has a question.
If you want girls in short dresses, guys in nice pants and a button down, like a date night out, I’d say “cocktail attire”. If you want even more casual where you might get nice jeans and sundresses you can say “smart casual”. Best bet is to look up the terms yourself and pick from there!

I had the same kind of wedding and I told people that slacks and a polo were fine and the women wore regular dresses.
