My dress is an ivory dress and I originally wanted a white one. When I went in to try on dresses I ended up not getting the one I first had picked out or white.

Thanks so much everyone! I think ivory lace will look much better than the white. Especially with my skin tone.

Honestly I thought I wanted ivory, was 100% sure. Until I started trying on dresses. I ended up with white!

White and even off-white or diamond white looked way too bright on me, and my skin looked sallow because of it. I love the ivory and warmer tones. My dress will be ivory lace over light gold, to bring out the lace details better. I tried it in ivory over ivory and you can barely see the lace.

To be honest, I wouldn't mind if it came in an in-between shade (champagne? almond?) because I find the light gold a tiny bit too gold-ish.

I'm also very fair skinned and I opted for a "antique" gold dress

I got the lucca maxi dress from BHLDN in antique rose, but they only had it to try on in white. I loved the antique rose one in photos online though.

I'm way too pale for pure white. I already know I will need ivory.

Mine is "soft white" I don't know what that means, but I looked terrible in white white

I went shopping thinking I was going to buy white but when I tried on my dress (labeled as gold) I fell in love. Seems like there are so many different color options out there now!

I went with an ivory and it looks white. The "white" was SO white it had almost a blue tint.

For reference..this is "alabaster" aka ivory. Your dress will probably look as white as you wanted!

Mine is champagne with ivory overlay. Love how much better you can see the detail! Do you have a picture of the front of your dress OP?

I just dodged this bullet. FW got her dress yesterday and went in only wanting "white white" while I've already purchased an ivory/champagne dress. Luckily, because of a great sales consultant and friends, she feel in love with a ivory and champagne dress (though I have a feeling it's more champagne!). I was so nervous about having an ivory dress next to a white dress.

Thanks ladies! Here's the front, back, and my veil.

I'm so excited for my fitting, even though it's months away haha.

Plain white is extremely bright and stark. What most people think of as "white" is actually ivory. I tried my gown on in white and ordered ivory. I wanted champagne but it wasn't available in my dress
