Hi everyone. I need some advice on what I should do. I ordered my dress way back in December and it sort of slipped my mind. Earlier last week I called the dress store since I haven't heard from them and they told me that my size 24 wedding dress was in. I freaked out because I ordered a 12. On Friday they told me they found a 12 and when I asked for the tracking # so I knew the millisecond it arrived at the store. The tracking number was wrong. I called the store and they provided me another wrong tracking number. I called a third time & they stated they lost the tracking number. I asked for the ETA & they stated they would call me back. I called the store 3 times today and it just rang with no answer (they were open). I'm six weeks out with no dress. I haven't had a fitting. They won't answer me and the store is 4 hours from my house. A friend offered to go with me to VOWS in MA to pick a new dress. I'm so stressed! I don't know if I should just give up on a non-communicative store?

Ya I would make that trip up there. First they had the wrong size and now they pretty much lost it. This is 1000% their fault.

In regards to getting your money back, do you have the receipt? Keep record of all the times you have called since you ordered, when the original order date was and excepted time of arrival. My salon gave me a slip clearly stating what I had ordered, in what size and when it was expected to come. They need to take responsibility for their fuck up, keep ALL documentation and demand to speak to the manager or owner. Go find a new dress, sounds like you've been given some good suggestions on here and hopefully you can find a consignment shop or something off the rack. Good luck!

Omg how horrible girl you need to get out there and find a dress . Get money back from the other dress asap! No reason for all this!

@Kristin My mom has the receipt and I have a PDF copy (keeping an external hard drive with contracts and receipts for the wedding because both my FH and I are paranoid about something bad happening). It states my designer, size, my measurements, style #, date we ordered, and it does have a policy that if the deposit is non-refundable unless it is at the fault of the store. The store is not claiming they are not at fault though, because they, allegedly, found a 12 (despite the multiple incorrect tracking numbers). My FH gets free legal advice from his union. Not sure if we should start talking. Am I being a crazy bride?

Don't start talking until you talk to manager or owner. Typically employees have no real power, but they need to make this right. You are not being crazy. 8/8 is not enough time for alterations!

If you put it on a credit card, dispute the charge.

There's a BHLDN in the the UES in nyc that has off the rack dresses.

I bought my dress used online, there are actually a lot of brand new dresses people sell on the used sites because for whatever reason they never wore.

You're not being crazy. When were you told the dress would be in?

Call your credit card company and dispute the charge.

Try vows, RK bridal, Bhldn. I wouldn't wait for the dress to not arrive on 8/8 and I would call and give the owner a piece of my mind. Report them to the better business bureau and demand your money back.

I agree that it's time to find a new dress, but don't just drop this altogether. I'm not so much worried about your deposit. You HAVE to badger them about this so they won't hold you liable for the remainder of the cost of the dress if/when it comes in. It very well may not be their fault that the dress won't arrive in a timely fashion but it damn sure isn't your fault either. If there was any kind of issue with the designer that held up production (which they'll probably claim), the store should have communicated with you.

If they found a 12, but are missing their delivery date to you, then that's no use! Did your contract say anything about when they have to have the dress by?

I wouldn't let them off that easy!

I second what @Erin said about BHLDN in NYC.

Report the bridal shop to the Better Business Bureau and don't let this go.

I went to Tulle Bridal and Alfred Angelo in Andover, MA. Both are great and had dresses to take home.
