Hi everyone. I need some advice on what I should do. I ordered my dress way back in December and it sort of slipped my mind. Earlier last week I called the dress store since I haven't heard from them and they told me that my size 24 wedding dress was in. I freaked out because I ordered a 12. On...

Hi everyone. I need some advice on what I should do. I ordered my dress way back in December and it sort of slipped my mind. Earlier last week I called the dress store since I haven't heard from them and they told me that my size 24 wedding dress was in. I freaked out because I ordered a 12. On Friday they told me they found a 12 and when I asked for the tracking # so I knew the millisecond it arrived at the store. The tracking number was wrong. I called the store and they provided me another wrong tracking number. I called a third time & they stated they lost the tracking number. I asked for the ETA & they stated they would call me back. I called the store 3 times today and it just rang with no answer (they were open). I'm six weeks out with no dress. I haven't had a fitting. They won't answer me and the store is 4 hours from my house. A friend offered to go with me to VOWS in MA to pick a new dress. I'm so stressed! I don't know if I should just give up on a non-communicative store?

I would try to get out of working with this dress shop. Yikes!

I got my dress from Louis Marie Bridal in Middletown, DE. They did say they will sell off the rack to brides with short timelines and special circumstances. Pam is super helpful and their seamstress, G, is great and fast. She redid the hem of my dress, did the bustle, and took my dress in all in 4 days the week of my wedding because I was an OOT bride who lived across the country. If you decide to go somewhere else for a dress, keep them on your list of places to go.

Did you sign a contract upon purchase? Time to read the fine print and see what they say about delivery and payment! Also, call In White in MA and ask how they can help... they are the most phenomenal bridal shop. Good luck!

OMG!! I am so sorry this is happening to you!! I cannot imagine how you must be feeling right now. I got my dress from Pearl Bridal in Holyoke, Ma... Beautiful little shop.... And they pay attention to ever little detail and make you feel right at home. They have dresses on clearance that I believe you can take home that day. Theirnumber is 413-315-6102. I don't know what style of dress you are looking for... BUT If worse comes to worse, I have a beautiful white vintage style Tea Length Lace dress you could have. I ordered it for my bridal shower and it didn't quite fit. It's supposed to be a 12 but it's more like a 10.. or maybe I just have a wide back lol. I haven't sent it back because I want to give it away. It's a beautiful dress and I hate to see it go to waste! I love it and look at it every day wishing I could magically make it fit lol. I am located in Ma. My email address is *******.******@*****.*** if you have any questions or want to see some pics. I wish you the best of luck!!

How did you pay your deposit? If it's with a credit card, dispute the charge. I'm doing that with another vendor. Then call around local shops. Most have a sample room that are cash and carry. Alfred Angelo is also having a big sale right now that is cash and carry.

Depending on where you are in MA - try Tulle Bridal in Andover or Bella Sera Bridal in Danvers. They both have gorgeous designer gowns that you can take home that day. There's also Marry & Tux in Nashua, NH - I believe they sell off-the-rack, as well.

As for the store you bought from - that's absolute BS. Yes, they are at fault, since they ordered the wrong size to begin with and cannot guarantee the proper size in a timely manner. Thinking that any wedding dress can be altered in 10 days - especially in the height of wedding & vacation season - is simply ludicrous. Demand a refund and tell them to keep the dress - it won't do you any good!

Ugh I'm sorry you're dealing with this. I got my dress at RK Bridal in NYC...the day I went there was another bride in the waiting area who needed (and ended up finding) an off the rack dress for a last minute destination wedding, so they do carry some there.

@Hopeless Romantic I've been on the phone with them since late May (around when I was originally expecting it) and they kept telling me they would call me. It did not completely slip my mind. I was busy finishing my degree, completing clinicals, and applying to PhD programs. I trusted my bridal shop to call and order the correct dress which was a mistake, obviously.

Dispute the charge if you used a credit card. Otherwise, get a new dress and keep fighting about a refund. If it comes in 8/8 and needs anything more serious than a hem you're fucked.

They're not at fault for this? They told you they lost the tracking number.

You can't lose something unless it was in *your* possession to begin with.

Whoever you spoke to on the phone that said otherwise is so full of it. Goodness.

A lot of dress boutiques/salons have sample dresses that can be purchased and taken home the same day. Size 12 was a common size in the DC/NC salons I visited, so you may have a lot of options. I would call other salons, let them know you need a sample dress in size 12 and ask for an appointment to come in and try them on.

Alterations could be an issue, but I'm sure you can find a place who can alter it in time. Good luck!

@Alyssachu - She gets paid through his union and we don't pay anything. She helped us when our old landlord tried to charge us $400 for damages we didn't do. I mean I understand it probably won't be something we see her about. I was sort of wondering if the threat from a strongly worded letter from a law firm would scare them into giving me my money back.

To those asking about a contract or fine print: There isn't anything outlining precisely when the dress will arrive. It has the date of my wedding and my proposed first fitting date (which was supposed to be this Friday hahahaha). Technically a dress did arrive, though not even remotely fitting of my size or measurements. My receipt has my measurements and the correct size so I'm not sure where they get off believing they are not at fault. I've set up two dress appointments I'll be attending myself. It's going to be a challenge I have a custom veil and head piece I'll be trying to match to a new dress...

I would go to the store and make a scene. Make sure you get money back! We have a few wedding consignments stores near me, check if there's any by you!

I highly recommend JLine in Northboro. Julia is doing my alterations but her salon carries in stock gowns and she has been AMAZING to work with. I would get a refund and start looking for a dress elsewhere. Luckily, a 12 in bridal is a very common size. Sucks that this happened though!
