Dress for church wedding

Mrstevlin2019, on April 30, 2018 at 8:37 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 11
Just curious to see if anyone knows. I have my wedding dress and it's strapless. We are getting married in a Lutheran church. Lutheran is similar to Catholic. Does anyone know if they are okay with strapless dresses or maybe it's the church's decison? Any help would be appreciated. Thank you.

There are different types of Lutheran (for example I am Lutheran but ELCA Lutheran, which is the least strict of the Lutheran church types). Some are stricter than others. I would check with the specific church you are getting married at.

I think that is completely fine. My sister got married in a catholic church and hers was sweetheart strapless.

    I would ask your church.
Mine is ok with strapless but I know others that make you cover your shoulders.

My daughter wore a spaghetti strap dress that had a very low back. She got married in a Missouri Synod church, there was no issue

I was raised Lutheran and am almost certain every Lutheran church would allow it but it is ultimately up to the pastor. Check with them.

I've been Lutheran my whole life anive been to lots of weddings in our church (like 95%) where the bride wore a strapless dress

Yep, check with your pastor. My cousin was married in a strict Catholic church and had detachable straps added to her dress for the ceremony only. They came off for pictures and the reception.

As many have said- talk to the pastor. At my church (non-denominational) I'm not allowed to have strapless at all. I went with an illusion top that they were okay with! Smiley smile

I would contact your pastor to see what they say. Personally, I also have an strapless dress and am getting married in a Catholic church and I went ahead and purchased something to cover my shoulders during mass because I knew I wouldn't feel comfortable wearing it without.
