Dress for elopement party?

Liane, on June 21, 2021 at 9:03 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 3

My husband and I eloped in the fall and are now in the process of planning a reception to celebrate. There won't be a ceremony, but we want the reception to be more or less your standard wedding reception. A couple people have assumed that because we're already married and aren't having a ceremony that I won't wear a "normal" wedding dress. Is there etiquette behind this? What would you wear in this circumstance?

I think in these covid times, many people are in a similar situation and you should absolutely do what you feel! Why should you miss out on wearing a proper wedding dress if that's what you want?

I'd wear whatever it is that will make you feel amazing and beautiful, whether that is a wedding dress, a romper, a dramatic colourful gown or a pair of jeans and a t-shirt!

If I were already married, and not planning on any sort of ceremony/vow renewal, I don’t think I would waste the time and money on a wedding dress. I would probably just get a party dress or cocktail dress.

You can wear whatever you want Liane!! There's no etiquette about this, and you can absolutely still rock a big white gown if you'd like! 💕

Here are a few discussions you can check out where other brides have shared their dress plans:
