Dress Help

Megan, on October 22, 2018 at 8:34 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 1 14
Hi there! So I ordered the Locklin dress by Wtoo. I LOVE the tulle skirt and the shape of the dress, and normally wouldn’t want extra volume, but I’m thinking the skirt isn’t full enough. Has anyone added volume to a tulle skirt? What options would you recommend? Pictures and advice please!

This is very similar to mine! I added a crenolin petticoat underneath! First photo is pre crenolin, second is with.

I agree with Megan! Petticoats are the best way to add volume! The way the bridal shop where I got my ball gown works, is they allow you to rent a petticoat for the wedding day. So I'll be choosing a petticoat that'll give me the volume I want! But I'm sure you can buy petticoats at other bridal shops.

Hi Megan! Congrats on finding the dress, you look absolutely beautiful! I love the straps and detailing! Smiley heart

You received some great feedback here! I agree, petticoats are a great option for a little volume and starting with seeing if your bridal shop has any for your dress is a great idea.

Is the veil in the photo the one you will be wearing on the big day, too?

Thanks! I had no idea I could possibly rent a petticoat! I’ll have to check out my options when My dress comes in.

Thanks so much! I’ve been a little weary of being able to see the sweetheart neckline through the sheer overlay. But the detail is so pretty! I hope my bridal shop has some options so I can try them out.

I am am wearing that veil! I honestly hadn’t thought much about the veil when I went dress shopping, just as long as it was simple and my mom liked it (she apparently has a preference on what it should look like).

I agree with everyone else, Megan, petticoat is the way to go! Maybe a small layer of tulle, but I think tulle is itchy and wouldn't want to submit my bare legs to that.

Also, this dress was made for you! Smiley love Even if you don't go with a petticoat, you look stunning in it!!! Do you need any alterations done?

Of course! I really think it's so unique and pretty!

Definitely! Smiley heart Best of luck to you and I hope they have some options that will help bring your wedding dress volume vision to life! Smiley heart

Aww that's great! Mother knows best, in veils too I guess Smiley kiss On the topic, we have another discussion going on about if your dress is the dress your mom would have picked (here)! If you want to come join in, we're curious, was your dress approved by your mother too? Smiley heart

Thank you so much! I will need minimal alterations, but mostly the straps and length. The size fit surprisingly well! I was quite happy about that. I haven’t gotten the dress in yet for my first fitting, so we will see!

I’ll have to check it out! My mom approved the dress... but I’m pretty sure it’s not the one she envisioned. She and I have very different tastes in dresses. I was happy that she didn’t voice any dislike towards the dress. She could tell my happiness with it.
