Dress is a little snug!

Erica, on September 29, 2016 at 3:34 PM Posted in Fitness and Health 0 16

Sooo I had my final fitting last week. My dress fit a little snug around the hips area (I have curvy hips and butt). It is causing a "wrinkle" in that area, which I hate! I'm not sure if she took it in too much or what because it didn't fit that way when she pinned it a week and a half before that. She said the dress should stretch the more I wear it. Any ideas/advice on losing inches in that area of the body quickly? Wedding is in 16 days! (Yikes!)

It could just be bloating or water weight. I would try walking/jogging for a little bit every day.

My 2nd fitting was when I tried on the dress to see if they had taken it in enough/too much. They took my inner lining in too much in the hips and it was wrinkling a bit when I walked, so they're going to release it about an inch and that should resolve it. Do they have time to release it a bit in that area? It's pretty hard to target losing inches in an area like that, especially with only 16 days to go.

Can you wear spanx with it? If not I'd think they have enough time to let it back out just a little.

I didn't know they could let it out an inch. She didn't offer that option when I mentioned it was a little snug. I'll call and see if it's possible.

My coworker mentioned spanx. I'll try that out and see how it fits.

I've heard people say that many brides end up losing a few pounds in the 2 weeks leading up to the wedding due to stress and being super busy. Not that it's guaranteed, of course, but you never know, it might help!

Increase cardio a little bit or do some squats! My dress is tight too so I experimented with water weight this week. I ate super clean for three days and drank 100oz of water everyday and it made a big difference.

If it doesn't fit correctly, the seamstress should correct the issue.

Don't bet on weight loss- stress can make some people bloat (well, as can stress-eating...). Ask your seamstress if she can get out either layer at all just at the hips.

I mean it's not bad. So I think she can take it out an inch or so

I don't think that's an issue honestly- that's a common place a dress will crease when it's a little snug- honestly it's not something you're going to really notice the day of.

Being said- drop your bready/starchy carbs- up the protein and fats (moderately) and drink tons of water.

You'll lose 5-10 pounds in water weight within a week.

Is your dress multiple layers? My dress wrinkled because it had 3 layers of fabric... the seamstress said it would do it no matter my weight.

@futuremrskristens yeah, it has layers. According to the seamstress, the wrinkle was there because of the snug fit. Smiley sad She mentioned if i lost an inch or two, it should be go away.

Anytime I cut out bad carbs (bread, pasta, processed foods) and sugar I see results quickly. Also lots and lots of water! Good luck and congrats!
