What's everyone's dress budget? Originally I said $2000, but that just seems ridiculous to me. Even if I wear the dress again, I feel like anything more than $500 is way too much. I'm considering either 1. Wearing my ballgown that I wore in Vienna (bought for 90 euros), or 2. buying a dress on...

I felt that way about our music budget. I'll only end up paying $2,000. Good luck!

I thought my dress was going to be a couple thousand and was nervous to go dress shopping but I was actually pleasantly surprised to get my wedding dress from BHLDN for just a little over $900. Still a pretty penny for a dress but the service was amazing, it arrived the same week I ordered, and is beautiful. I rationalize spending a lot of money on a wedding dress by reminding myself... This will be the one day I will be photographed the most. I want to be wearing THE perfect dress. I might not wear it more than once but I will look at it for the rest of my life.

My budget was $4k and I wound up spending $5,000, but the dress is being made to fit my measurements, so unless I gain or lose a lot of weight it shouldn't need many alterations, if any.

My budget was around 3K, including dress, veil, alterations. I went dress shopping on Labor day weekend, and who would've thought bridal stores do Labor Day sales? LOL

My dad and stepmom paid for my gown, veil and the headpiece so I don't know the exact amount. But I do know it was around 3k for all. I just picked my dress up on Tuesday from the alterations place and it was $495 for that. So I technically went a little over with the alterations, but I didn't have to pay for anything else for it. (Although I was fully prepared to, because dad and stepmom had offered to "help" with it. I wasn't expecting them to pay the whole bill)

My max budget was $1000. I am one that can't see or justify spending "millions," before alterations, on a dress i may only wear once. I tried on several dresses ranging from $500 to $1000. I ended up falling for a dress that was $595 tagged after discounts $475. Alterations I was quoted around $50-$80 for the one thing I need done.

I personally don’t agree that 2k is a ridiculous amount, but agree you can get a decent dress for less. However things like material, details, embellishments such as beading & crystals do make a difference in price and quality, so with that in mind I think there is a difference in quality when you consider certain price points.

I agree it’s definitely hard to spend a lot of money on a dress for one day! I didn’t want to spend over $500. I went to David’s Bridal and was in between two. One was $250 and one was $500. I went with the $500 one ultimately because it had a ton more detail and I felt more like a bride. The seamstress I use is cheap so alterations will be hardly anything (just needs to be hemmed). If you don’t even want to wear white, you should be able to find something you love for a reasonable price! Good luck!

While looking for bridesmaids dresses on Amazon, I found a lot of bridesmaids dresses and prom dresses that would be beautiful as a wedding dress if you pick the white option. All around $70-100 range.

If you do end up getting an expensive dress, I recommend clean and preserve (I think Davids Bridal has a kit for $150). Save the dress for your future daughter/daughter-in-law.

I didn't spend anything on my dress, since I am wearing my mom's dress.

I was comfortable spending $1,000 on my wedding dress. My sister found a dress on the clearance rack. The first dress I tried on and fell in love with it. With the shoes, veil and dress I spent $500 on it all.

There are some bridal stores who sell overstock or last-year's designs. We also have the options of re-purposing a gown or selling through a consignment store. These, of course, do not help our initial pocket books, but they give a few options to keep the final price down.
