Dress regret

Dress regret 1
Another dress regret post.

I keep looking at pictures of my dress & finding things wrong with it. Unfortunately I don’t have a good picture of it on me because it was half my size & didn’t fit all the way. I’ve been on a tight timeline because we’re trying to get married in early November.
What’s really bothering me is the lace going into the skirt. I wish the lace either stopped at the waist or had appliqués through out the skirt.
I initially wanted an all lace dress that was semi modest, but got too excited when I tried this one on & jumped the gun (I’ve tried on close to 20 dresses). I’m not usually an impulsive person, so now when I look at pictures it’s all distorted on me & I feel overwhelming second thoughts. Everyone says it’s beautiful & I definitely liked it when I had it on; I just hate it now looking back.

I think of lot of people can relate to this. One thing that stood out to me about what you said is that you don’t have any good pictures of yourself in the dress because of the fit. I was in your same shoes except that I was practically swimming in my dress, so I found that it was really hard to get excited about when I couldn’t even picture how it would look once fitted. And that made it impossible to rebut any negative thoughts I had about the dress. I just had my second alterations appointment a couple weeks ago (so the dress had been taken in some) and specifically brought my MOH along so she could get pictures. Since then, it’s been SO much easier reminding myself how much I love my dress when the doubts come in. So you might also feel better once your dress has gone through some alterations and you can see how it once fitting. You could also consider adding more appliqués to the skirt and getting adding a thin layer over the top if you’re wanting more. You could also get a cathedral veil with detailed lace embroidery so that you have a more detailed train if that’s the look you’re going for. It’s a beautiful dress, so I hope it works out!

I have advice. Delete and or burn the pictures of you in the dress. I have personally experienced as well as heard several others say similar things. If you look at pictures of yourself in the dress, you will pick yourself apart. I couldn't stop and it was driving me mad. Stop looking at the pictures. You loved your dress for a reason. Try not to think about it. What's done is done anyway. No one is lying to you either. It's a beautiful dress and I'm sure you do look amazing in it. Take a deep breath and try to focus on something else.

The entire bodice sat 3-4 inches too high & I think that’s part of what is contributing to me feeling frumpy. I’m hoping your right about when it fits it’ll feel better.
I’ve also considered adding an additional crinoline underskirt if I feel like my waist needs more definition when it comes in.
I asked the shop if I’m unable to cancel the order if I can at least order additional lace.

I might have to do that. When I look at the model I don’t hate it nearly as much.
It doesn’t help that the lady took photos looking up at me. I was on the pedestal & she was short. So I also look disproportionate in the photos of me.

I hate my dress too. The salesperson at the bridal shop I went to really pressured me into buying it, and I feel horrible about it. My wedding is 6 weeks away and I feel like there is nothing I can do. I've delayed/put off all other kinds of wedding prep due to dress panic. I wish i was never getting married at this point, this level of stress is just unreal.

I think the dress is beautiful and love the appliqué!!! It's very elegant. Once you get your dress and it fits just right, I am sure you will feel excitement again!
