Dress Regret

Ruthie, on April 9, 2019 at 3:23 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 6
Anyone else buy their dress too early and having dress regret? I bought my Kenneth pool gown a while back and now after alterations I just do not like the way it fits at all. I feel like I’m going to start from scratch.

I have recently been feeling a little bit of dress regret, but I'm hoping my "fears" will be washed away when I get my dress back from alterations.

Are there further alterations you can do to make it more what you want?

I had a moment during my first fitting where I wondered if I had made a mistake. BUT! Once I got to the final fitting, and everything was done - no pins, no adjustments, everything fit right - it was so much better. I also had my hair and makeup done a little bit better for the final fitting so I didn't feel "dumpy" in such a fancy dress lol.

Having a little regret isn't all that uncommon. If you have further alterations to do or more fittings lined up, I suggest just remaining calm and seeing how it all turns out. Usually things turn around for the better. But if there is a very specific part of your dress and/or the way it fits that you don't care for, check with whoever is doing your alterations - see what they can do to address it.

I avoided buying a dress too far in advance partially because I didn't want to regret it. I didn't have a cry moment.. I just thought, oh, this would work work well with the wedding and it's what I'm wanting. After my first alteration I was kind of like eh, it's okay. Now that more alterations are being done and I can see it taking shape..I remember why I've picked it.

If there's nothing they can do to your dress to make you love it, start over. I'm sure it's not as bad as you think it is though. We're our worst critics.

Thanks for the encouraging comments. Glad I’m not alone. I’m thinking at this point maybe it’s just not the right shape for me.

Hey Ruthie, I wanted to check back in and see how you're feeling about your dress. Did you choose another one or stick with your first dress? Have you started alterations and buying accessories?
