Hello WW! Has anyone else done a dress reveal or dress try on party? I previously posted my dilemma about not having everyone i love there for my "yes" moment, so with your advice i have decided to do a dress reveal! Has anyone done this? any advice? any opinions?

I want to make it fun with games and print pictures of several dresses and make the party guests vote their top 5, and see who picks the closest to my top 5 (and if anyone guesses the dress), i want to do a "guess who picked this dress" game in which guests will pick who picked/liked the dress in the picture (i have many pictures my co-worker emailed me, pictures from when mom and me when shopping etc), and i want to do reverse bingo, counting down the dresses that i did NOT pick before revealing and showing my dress.

This may sound silly or overdone to some, (like seriously just show them the dress and go home) but i think games are a way to make it fun and more like a party! I also made little invitations to lightly break the news that i bought a dress, and inform them of the reveal!

Since it is family and close friends who wanted to be a part of the shopping experience, i think trying it on for them will be great, and adding games is just a way to make it fun. It is only 5 people, and no i am not a royal or expecting press over my dress, i just want to show the people i love and there is nothing wrong with that. Anyone that would make jokes of me are people that wouldn't be invited and wouldn't be my friends or family either.

That's good!!! That's the only part I'd worry about personally. For the other part, it's good that other family/ friends want to see your dress and you're making a little fun event out of it. It's nice to have a little get- together and spend time with your loved ones 🙂

I'm so glad you were able to do that with your FMIL and Mom! I had a small and pleasant experience with my sister and mom, but they weren't there when i bought mine, so i definitely want to show them. Thanks for the advice!

I wont be having the in store fittings because i plan on asking my grandmother to help with the alterations, so i thought this was a great alternative!

I agree with this. I bought my dress online and didn't have the "typical" experience you described. Honestly theres no right or wrong way to buy a dress, as a previous poster said I think so many TV shows and movies and other media build up all these preconceived notions of what you have to do for weddings that are totally unnecessary. I sent my friends and family pictures and when my sisters came over for dinner one night (non wedding related) I tried it on to show them. My moms going to the fitting with me so she can see it then. That being said, you know your crowd and what they will think is fun and what would be too much. I dont think the game is a good idea for the same reasons that have been mentioned here. If you're going to do this I'd think it should be more of a girls night type of thing. Have some drinks, snacks, paint your nails, etc and then just show them the dress. The invites and such are too extra in my opinion but that's just me.
