That’s a really good idea, I think the person wearing the dress should always get to speak their mind first!

That’s so cool that the dress you said yes to was one your consultant picked! I’ll definitely be stealing that idea. Lol I am worried there is gonna be an expectation for me to cry when I find “the one,” but I can not cry in front of people, so it’s reassuring to know that not everyone does!

Wow, that’s a great idea for saving time if you try on a dress you know you already don’t like, I didn’t think about that!

I’m the same way when I’m overwhelmed with so many emotions! Right BEFORE my fiancé proposed we were walking to the spot in Central Park and this other guy proposed to his gf! I got all choked up cus it was soooooo cute. My fiancé proposed a little further down a few minutes later and I didn’t cry lol!!!!! He was like seriously?!?! Haha

As an ex-bridal consultant and someone who bought a dress too:

    1) Don't get overwhelmed trying on a ton of dresses. If you're not sure what type of style you like, pick one or two to start and see how you feel about it. Pick a ball gown and it's too much dress? Try an A-line. Pick a mermaid and it's too clingy on your legs but you like the fit at the hips? Try a Sheath. Be open to new styles.

    2) Be super open about what you like and don't like about your dress. This is what helps your bridal consultant find the perfect dress for you because they get more of an idea of what you like and what to steer clear of.

    3) Don't worry about sizing. Wedding dresses aren't one size fits all. Alterations are what will tailor your dress to you.

    4) Have a budget and stick to it.

    5) Don't be afraid to take a little bit of time to think on it if you're not sure. Give yourself a little bit of time to think about it but don't over think it or take too much time.

    6) Dresses can take up to 6 months to come in for newer styles and you still need at least 4 weeks for alterations. If there's any delays, you're likely to not get your dress in time or if there was an error, say the warehouse sent the wrong size, you might not have time to fix it and will be left to whatever you can get off the rack or limited options that will arrive in time.

    7) COVID aside, you generally only want a select few to come look at dresses with you. Too many opinions can make it seriously overwhelming and much more stressful of an experience that you need it to be.

MOST OF ALL be sure that YOU like it. Don't pick a dress because it's mostly okay you guess. Been there, done that and basically wasted $1,800. If you can't close your eyes and walk forward picturing yourself walking down the aisle to your significant other, it's probably not the one.

I had my hair in a simple do. It’s called a Gibson tuck. Just to help me see have the whole affect. I also brought my grandma’s pearls she gave me and know that the dress ad to work with it. I’d say if you know if you have a necklace you want to wear bring it. I found my dress at the second store I went too. I did lots of looking online to see what I liked and didn’t. Be mindful that it might look better in you or not how you thought. Hope this helps.

So I didn’t take the time to read all the other posters. I’m sorry if this is a repeat! Not sure how formal your wedding is (ours is going to be formal), however the salon told me something that stuck and I still think about! Even when I see people posting their dresses!

“If you could see a guest at the wedding wearing the dress in a different color, it’s not your dress!”
So many dresses I tried on and knocked out because I wanted to stand out not blend in! Of course having a white dress you will, however you get the idea!

Don't get too set on a gown that you found on Pinterest. BECAUSE - I ended up trying on my "dream dress" and absolutely hating it! LOL.

Be open minded and try on dresses you wouldn't think would work! You may be totally surprised, like I was.

The dress I chose ended up being one of the sales rep's picks - it was the most plain and simple on the hanger so I purposely put it on last. I cried as she was zipping me up in it. It was the one!

Good luck - have fun - make sure you eat SOMETHING before you go shopping. Forget the bloat, you don't want to pass out!

Have fun while shopping! Don't be afraid to try on dresses until you find the one you like. The attendant helping you will help you focus on what you want. I wore a strapless bra. I also just wore my everyday shoes. I will wear the actual shoes to the fitting. Just have fun and pick out what you like and the style your going for!
