Dress shopping schedule

Courtney, on October 2, 2019 at 8:06 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 9
I am planning on dress shopping this weekend. I was wondering if you planned to go to multiple places. I was thinking about going to a boutique or 2 to get that special experience but if I dont find anything go somewhere like David's Bridal.

Is it weird to plan on going several places back to back? Should I schedule them further apart or is it fine in 1 day?

I did two in one day, which was a little tough, but I’m a pain when it comes to shopping. We ended up doing lunch in between so there was some time to relax and take a break and honestly it worked great!

I did two in one day! I started at David’s Bridal because I figured they would have the biggest selection and the best prices. I tried on probably 10 dresses, and hated them all except for 1 that I was thinking might be the one. However, I was a little bit in between sizes and the smaller one wouldn’t have the same lace appliqué on the back like I liked (I have no idea why) so they wanted me to order the bigger one. I was planning on losing a little more weight (and I have) so I didn’t want to order the bigger one knowing I’d have to have it taken in. So I decided to go ahead to the second appointment I had scheduled at a Bridal boutique “just in case”. Their prices were higher for the most part and I was regretting my decision to come there. But after trying on several, I found the one, and it was in my price range! And it was a designer instead of David’s Bridal brand. They obviously didn’t have as many options for buying off the rack (to save money), and they didn’t have every dress in the store in a size I could try on so that really could’ve gone either way, but I happened to find the perfect one for me. I definitely think you should go to at least a couple that day. Even if you think you find the one, don’t purchase until you’ve explored all of your other options. Looking back at the first dress I thought I wanted, I realize I would’ve had some major dress regret if I had bought that one. Shop around!

Did you end up finding your dress at either of those places?

Thank you so much for the suggestion! I have never tried on formal wear like this before so I know that I am going to want to try on many outfits before I make my decision! ❤

Wedding Dress shopping is exhausting. If you choose to do 2 in 1 day put a decent gap on between. Maybe lunch to reenergize before heading over to another dress store.

No problem at all! And I’m sure you may have already heard people say this, but try on things that you wouldn’t think you’d like. I went in wanting a long sleeve ball gown and ended up with a spaghetti strap a-line. Give your consultant some suggestions of things you like, but when they bring you a dress “just to try” that you think you will hate, try it on anyway. My dress wasn’t even one we had picked. My consultant borrowed it last minute from another girl trying them on and I tried it just to please her and fell in love!

Yes! The first place we went that day was David’s Bridal. It was a not so great experience (they cut me on a dress and got upset that I was bleeding near the dresses). The second place we went was an adorable boutique and I loved everything! My mom and I had been shopping once before at one other store, so that may have helped.

I went last weekend for the first time and did two appointments on Saturday and two on Sunday. I live in NY and my family is in PA so I was trying to do it all at once! The appointments were basically back to back too since they took longer than expected and we didn't have time for lunch the first day. Surprisingly I was fine but I'm a trooper ha. Like PPs said, try on all different styles. My favorite ended up being a satin ballgown which was the total opposite of what I had in mind (flowy romantic lace and tulle vibes). I'm actually very confused now and will probably make more appointments but I'm very indecisive!
