Definitely look over the website for styles, save some favorites so your consultant can look them over to get an idea of what you like, but remember the stores don't always have every dress on the website. Don't worry about wearing a strapless bra, they have them there

Not a fan of DB. So, my advice would be to book appointments at other bridal gown salons besides David’s bridal. DB is used SO often that the dresses are seen everywhere all the time.

So much hate for DB, but I had a lovely, if not boutique-y experience. I had a morning appointment on a weekend and had a dedicated consultant. I'd "loved" some dresses online and she had that printed out and pulled the ones they had in stock. After trying those (and there were contenders in the bunch) I asked her if there was anything else she'd recommend for me, since she's the expert. And that's how I found the dress! If you luck out and get somebody who likes their job vs somebody killing time, it can be a really nice experience.

Thank so much for the advises. My appointment is on a Sunday at noon, hopefully people are at lunch and not dress shopping, lol. Having strangers commenting about you must had been awkward.

I had read everything you mention about DB and made me a little nervous at time, but I know someone who got her dress with them and they had a good experience. I set my mind to not expect to much, and I will definitely go to other places. Thank you so much for the heads up and your advices.

Have an idea of what you want and looks good on you, but be open!

Wear your hair how you want it on your wedding for a better picture of what you'll look like that day! Bring the shoes you'll be wearing, and type of bra!

Good luck! I hope you find the dress! And if you don't the first time, don't stress!

And if the one they bring you doesn't exactly fit, don't stress on that either, they have bra extenders. I had to get one. I would suggest once you get your dress and know the type you need to start looking, because you'll need it for your first fitting

Have an open mind. I went in with an idea and came out with a dress I loved that was no where close to what I thought I wanted. Wear comfy undies and a strapless bra if possible and don't be afraid to say you hate a dress. Once you get your consultant and room, you have an hour and a half set aside just for you so take your time. Take pictures of any dresses you like, along with tags so you know the designer, item number etc for later. Definitely have fun!

Go through their website and find a list of dresses you like and can see yourself in (screen shot with style number).

google that dress to find real brides wearing it.

try you hardest to try on your favorites from this list as well as others suggested.

don't get over whelmed when the stylist make a big deal about how great you look.

don't feel pressured to buy that day. sleep on it and come back to buy later when you're sure.

don't buy the accessories there. They're over priced. You can find a lot better jewelry for instance elsewhere that is more unique and less expensive.

I didn't have good experience at davids bridal. I hope you have better luck at your appointment and they give you a consultant that knows what the heck she's doing.

Don’t feel pressure to buy on your first trip!! DB was the only place I felt any pushiness from the sales person and the girl seemed a bit off out when I wasn’t convinced to buy the dress that wasn’t at all what I wanted...but, I still had a great experience! Have fun with it! Getting dolled up was fun Smiley winking.

One note— I had found a couple styles I liked on their website, but they didn’t have them in store— so try not to get too dead-set on a dress in your pre-browsing

Be prepared for the crowd! My first time at DB was on a weekday so I experienced the difference between a weekday and weekend appointment.

Have a couple options that you like from the website picked out beforehand so they can pull them quicker. Also, the consultant may be able to pick a couple that you wouldn’t give a second look to that you may like.
Remember that you can buy a lot of the add-ons (belt, veil, etc) elsewhere for a lower price.

When I went I had an idea but was very open to different styles and ideas. I also went on a weekend and the consultant was only helping me so it was a great experience. I had no intention on buying my dress that day but I did. I guess my advice is just try to be relaxed, wear a strapless, and do your makeup. If you do your hair do an updo cuz it gets warm! Haha
