Dress shopping under $500?

I need help! I’ve been trying to keep my budget tight. We splurged on venue and photography because that’s what we felt was important to us so I’m trying to stay under $500 on my dress. It seems impossible and I’m feeling pretty discouraged. Anybody have luck with this? If so, where? I am in Kansas...

I actually had some really great luck with eBay. You can find second hand dresses or new ones. I ordered a custom one from China a few years ago for a friend's wedding and it was perfect just needed minor alterations.

The knot Dresses search brings up their designers. Under filters at the top, click price, click $250 to 299, you get this page.
click any dress, there is a link to the designer's website. If they make one under $500, often they have many. And this price range, like Adriana Papell, also sells in department stores under evening dresses. just get white or ivory.Prom dress sites often suit if you are young and not plus size. ... Area Kansas City: In every designer website is a category, our stores, or retailers. It tells you every salon near you that carries at least some of their gowns. Ask about a gown or two you know is in the $250-499 or $500-749page on the knot, and ask about gowns under $500, or under $750, which in sales, trunk shows, or clearance will slide down into your category. Also, the generic class of wedding dress is called a private label. Without a designet name, salons wwhich carry designet dresses under $750 will usually have private label in that range. Never advertised, it keeps prices lower. A salon buyer with a good eyes for balancing her stock usually has numerous private label dresses up to $200 less than their main designer stock.

This website carries many of the common prom or evening clothes makers, so you can not only browse here for white, offwhite, silver and white, but learn the mames of makers like Flirt or Jovani or papel to go to their own sites.

I finally found my dress that i ordered off Amazon! Ordering online not being sure how it will fit, your best bet may be some type of strapless corset dress, that way your have room to tighten and loosen it up a bit as well. I initially got one with sleeves and the sleeves fit funny, so I ordered a sleeveless and its much better; I just need to find some type of lacy overtop for it now since my wedding is in December in Wisconsin.

I would strongly recommend looking on resale/consignment sites and pre-owned wedding dress sites like StillWhite, Poshmark, Mercari, Tradesy, OnceWed, PreownedWeddingDresses.com, etc. You can regularly find $1500+ dresses for under $500. I bought my $2000+ dress on StillWhite and paid only $400, which was still far less than it would have cost me to buy any wedding dress locally.

You should also keep an eye out for sample sales at any local bridal shops, and can look on Craigslist and Facebook Marketplace as well. Sometimes you get lucky!

If you want something new, explore Lulu's, ASOS, BHLDN, Azazie, and other online retailers. Many carry beautiful dresses in the $200-$500 range, some even cheaper.

Also, keep in mind the cost of alterations when considering your dress budget. Buying a pre-owned dress allowed me to find one that fit me without needing alterations, and it already had a bustle added. Alterations can range from $50 for simple fitting or hemming up to $800 or more for more complex changes or alterations on many layers of material or detailed applique patterns. So if $500 is the max you can afford, try to keep the dress cost below $400 to allow for some alterations.

I found this great website that sells dresses for under $500. The website is https://www.jjshouse.com/. I found several dresses here that I like. They ship your dress to wherever you are. All you do is send them your sizes. They also have bridesmaid dresses and more. They even have stylists you can talk to.

Ooph, that's not ok! I only tried one dress that was out of my budget, and that was only because I picked it out, knowing it was over my budget and decided to try it anyway xD.

I looked on davids bridal website first, screenshot all the ones I liked and wanted to try on. Of course she still grabbed dresses out of my price range for me to try on, but fell in love with one of my picks and was only $400

I bought a gorgeous dress from Lulus and I'm obsessed with it - they called it a "maxi dress" but it looks like a wedding gown. I've also had a friend who bought one from here, it was gorgeous: https://www.bhldn.com/ Good luck!!

I have a wedding dress that I bought and I never wore it. I’m actually trying to sell it. It’s for a petite bride, within your budget. Let me know.

I spent a bit more on my dress, but I know there are times you can find good deals and coupons. Maybe even check out prom dresses that are white? A lot of the time they are considerably cheaper and you can barely tell the difference. Good luck! 😊
