I spent weeks looking at dresses online before trying anything on. After 2 dress appointments, I sifted through all my pictures and narrowed down all the features/silhouettes that I loved as well as what I hated. Then I sat down and comprised the literal most OCD list of wedding dress "must haves" and "mustn't haves" lol. After making my list, I looked at dresses online for several more weeks before finally finding my very perfect dress.


Point is, sometimes it takes a while to get familiar with this new wedding dress territory. You may not know what you want right off the bat, and what you want might evolve into something different. Don't be pressured to make a decision immediately if you're still unsure.
Also, before jumping into "expanding your budget," take a look at some less expensive online options like Azazie and Cocomelody. Hopefully you are able to find your dream dress!!

This is my dress, but I got it in ivory. It's sparkly in person. I went to 3 bridal salons before I made my decision. I did research on different designers and dresses before each appointment and saved them on my phone so that I could ask to try it on in person. Different bridal salons carry different designers which is why I think it's important to go to multiple ones. Also, some bridal salons carry the same designer, but not always the same dress. The dress in the photo was in a color I didn't want, so I didn't really fall in love until I went to a different bridal salon and tried it on there in the color ivory, that's when I had my "moment." Sometimes you need to see it in person to really make your final decision.

I actually bought my dress 11 months before I got engaged! I knew what I wanted, saw that my designer had a trunk show in the area, and bought it without even trying on MY dress.
The consultant put me in dresses to mimic the style and cut of my dress, but I guess you could say my dress was bought sight-unseen! 😬😂

I’m a bit of an anomaly. But the traditional rule is to try on anything and everything because you never know what you’ll like or look good in!
I think I lucked out. I cried when I finally got to see MY dress and try her on. And I look pretty good in it!
Try on tons of things if you don’t have a set idea, and also remember that you can find a stunner of a dress for any budget! My unique/wacky dress choice was still under $1700 (trunk sale price though)!

Try on different Styles! I went into Davids Bridal wanting sleeves and a sheath dress. The consultant wanted me to try a trumpet/mermaid because it would fit my figure. And she was soooo right! I feel in love with this dress right away. Also do mind my awkward posture in this picture

This is my Martina Liana gown. 857 It hasn’t been altered yet as I’m adding straps & having the back lowered & made super fitted. More so around my bum lol It’s ivory over honey & has gorgeous lace & beading throughout. It shimmers can’t wait to get married in this 😍
I hope you find the one, this dress was one I skipped past on the stores website. I didn’t even give it a second thought but once I tried it on & then many others after I still came back to this beauty.

Don’t decide on the first visit!! I went with a group the first time, second shop I went alone and i just felt like I was able to think clearer.. not sure if it was the people or the second shop but im in absolute love with my dress & it makes me wanna cry looking at it

I don't know why everyone feels like they have to go to David's Bridal if they're on a budget... lots of bridal salons have dresses in a similar price range that are much better quality, plus you get better service too! Definitely check out other salons in the area and let them know your budget. Some might be high end but most have more affordable options as well. Definitely try on different styles, I never thought I would want an all lace strapless mermaid dress and look what I ended up with! As soon as I saw myself in the mirror I had a shocked OH moment, I tried on many dresses after this but ultimately this was the one and I've had no regret since despite browsing through wedding dresses at least once a week

I had that experience too. I went to David's bridal wanting a mermaid/trumpet/fit and flare and I didnt like any of them on me. But I did like other dress styles from there. Then I went to another bridal shop yesterday and fell in love with a mermaid/trumpet style and put a deposit on that one. Maybe try a different bridal shop just to be sure?
