Dress too big two weeks out

Katrina, on January 25, 2020 at 12:50 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 7
My dress originally had a zipper back. It was able to zip, but it was extremely snug in the breast/upper ribcage area. I had it altered, and a corset was put in place of the zipper. It fit, but wasn't as snug as I wanted it to be. Now in the three weeks since I last tried it on, I've lost about 7 pounds from stress, and it is too big even tying the corset as tight as it will go. My wedding is two weeks from today. What do I do? I've gone from loving my dress to almost hating it.

Here is what it looked like before taking out the zipper and again at the beginning of January with the corset. I didn't take a picture when I tried it on today. I'm so sad.
Also, my FH shoes aren't the right color. He was so excited about his shoes. 😩Dress too big two weeks out 1

Lots of cheeseburgers and margaritas 😂

In all seriousness, I'm so sorry this is happening! I don't have any advice, but maybe ask the tailor if they have any advice? I hope it works out for you!

I am sorry this happened but maybe up the calories a bit but not too much. Have you googled some solutions like maybe add a white fabric back? I would ask the steamstress you used to see if she can add something to over the openess in the back but does it feel like it will slip off? If not then I would just use something to hide it if it is still too big and use your veil.

I love your dress! Just go back to the seamstress. I had mine altered three times because the last few weeks I lost 5 pounds due to stress.

Take it back to the seamstress. 2 weeks is plenty of time for them to take in a dress.

I would take it back and see what they can do! Maybe they can take it in a little more and keep the corset in the back. The dress is absolutely beautiful!

2 weeks is still a good amount of time, I am sure they can help do something. Smiley smile

I’m freaking out just like you. You should bring it back in to get it fixed quick!
I went to my second alterations on Thursday and the dress was too tight. I’m about a month away from the wedding and they told me they would fix the under layer to make it 1/8” loose and to bring in the top layer. Also it’s too tight on the armpit hole and the back is just terrible. I don’t know... I go back on feb 14 and I’m freaking out. I don’t know if I should request another appointment sooner.....

The dress is gorgeous. even with the corset all tied up tight it doesn't fit? like PPs said, it could be fixed with a seamstress. but i also wonder if your weight has been fluctuating? i know for me i lost some weight because the week of i fit my dress fine but on the day of it felt too large.
