Dresses with buttons down the back...

Jennifer, on October 15, 2021 at 7:23 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 1 10

Hey everyone!

So, um...kind of an embarrassing question, but my dress has about twenty small buttons down the back and I'm... wondering about how you get out of such a thing after the wedding is over. LOL

I mean, the lady at the bridal shop had no issues with them, but she does it for a living. My FH has told me before he doesn't "do" buttons. :-P So....anyone have any ideas about how to escape the dress when all's said and done? Preferably something that doesn't involve pocket knives... ;-)

I have a feeling your FH still suddenly figure out how to "do" buttons on your wedding night lol. I have heard that a crochet needle comes in handy. But I don't think you can do it by yourself.

Maybe have one of your bridesmaids help you change? My dress has a sheer back with all buttons down the back as well and I was planning on changing into another dress for the after party.

My dress is sheer down the back with buttons. My dress has a hidden zipper though, so it’s easy to get out of instead of all the buttons. I would see if one of the bridesmaids could help you with this before you leave for the night

Crochet hook worked for me and my husband did not have a problem with it 😂

I agree with getting a bridesmaid to help you change before you head off, or if your dress is like mine, there is a zip underneath the buttons, so you could have them undo the buttons for you but still wear the dress?

If a man can figure out how to unhook a bra strap, he can figure out how to unbutton some buttons, esp on his wedding night ; )

You get in and out with a small crochet hook. The tiny ones made for making lace.

My husband unbuttoned mine. He may have been annoyed with it but he was fine. It took maybe 1-2 minutes.

Hahaha this reminds me of my buttons! They were extremely difficult to button, it was hard for me to even button and unbutton when it was on the hanger. It took my mom 40 min to button it the morning of the wedding!

So when me and my new husband arrived in our hotel room, slightly inebriated, I was like “you are nevvvveeeer going to be able to unbutton my dress!” And he was convinced it would be easy.
Turns out he unbuttoned with extreme ease.
