Dried Bouquets...fragile?

FutureMrsKC, on February 7, 2018 at 1:44 PM Posted in Do It Yourself 0 10

Hey all, so I've been in the process of (slowly) putting together all of the bouquets and bouts for the wedding. I was using silk flowers and greenery but it's a little too plain and something seems to be missing. I like the simplicity and part of me wants more. So, from another thread, I saw some pictures of dried bouquets (GORGEOUS) and great prices. That being said, I'm looking to incorporate some of the dried flowers into the bouquet I've already started. Are these dried flowers and greenery fragile? I don't want dried greenery to fall apart in my hands walking down the isle.

Also, if you have a dried floral bouquet, please leave a pic in the comments!

I personally love the look of wooden flowers and they are incredibly affordable compared to their real counter part. I imagine they hold up well but I haven't bought any yet.

I dried my bridal bouquet and it's super fragile. The petals fall off when touched. I just have it sitting in a vase and don't move it unless I have to.

Dried flowers are gorgeous. But they are extremely fragile and do best when just sitting in a vase or shadow box looking pretty.

Have you thought about adding an accent piece to it as a pop? It could either be a bright color vs more relaxed colors or it could be a little bling. Michaels, hobby lobby both have some gorgeous little pieces that can be added as accents. Dried flowers will fall and break if you just look at them wrong

Paper flowers are nice and not too expensive. Felt flowers are also really neat and can stay for forever!

I've been talking to a few different florists about this over the past 24 hrs. All of them are saying that dried flowers (when dried properly) aren't any more fragile than live ones. Apparently the key is finding a vendor with good reviews, and including lots of sturdy plants (lavender, grass, etc.). And they can last for up to a year after the wedding!
I decided to go with them because of the price, look and opportunity for them to also be a gift to my bridesmaids. I'm not getting married until September, but I'm definately going to post a review on here after my ceremony.

I agree with first comment. The wood flowers look awesome and they aren't half as fragile as dried flowers. With the dried flowers I know there is a way to preserve them with a type of spray, some florists will do it for a price, but it's expensive and they still are fragile.

I do still have my silk/real feel flowers and greenery mostly arranged already so I was more-so looking for some filler flowers (hence the dried) to add color and the more real look to it opposed to more fake flowers.
