Dried flowers, wildflowers, and homemade arrangements?

Kelley, on October 24, 2020 at 10:06 PM Posted in Do It Yourself 0 4
Hello all,

My fiance and I are having a simple backyard wedding, and trying to save on costs wherever we can. I definitely don't want to spend a lot on flowers. I've seen a lot of wildflower bouquets and dried bouquets on Pinterest, I love the look of them and think they would fit the aesthetic we're going for. I live in southern California, I can drive to the mountains or desert very easily to pick wildflowers, dry them in my backyard, arrange them myself, etc. If anyone else has done this, what was your experience? Did you like the look of wildflowers? How far in advance did you dry and assemble them? Were you happy with how they turned out, or wished you had just bought fresh flowers?

Any tips or advice appreciated!

I have never done this for myself as I am not creative enough to make them look nice, but I bought a beautiful dried bouquet from Etsy for my home as taking care of fresh flower was too much work! I think a dried bouquet is beautiful and a great alternative! Months later I still love looking at them! Even if you don’t do the work themselves getting dried bouquets are still an inexpensive alternative to fresh!Dried flowers, wildflowers, and homemade arrangements? 1

If you have a beautiful wildflowers available to you for free, I say go for it! Just make sure you research how to dry them properly. The professionals use a very specific method to dry/preserve them which maintains the colors of the flowers. If you just let them lay out to dry, they will wither and brown.

All flowers dry differently; so definitely do a couple test runs.

I would look up tutorials on YouTube, but I would say go it!
