Drinks at bridal shower?

APD, on September 1, 2016 at 10:27 AM Posted in Planning 0 34

So I wanted to do mimosas and bloody Mary's at my bridal shower and I plan on having it at 2pm on a Sunday. Is that okay to do that late in the day? I'm not sure because those are more of a brunch kind of drink. Thanks for the help ladies!

Why are you planning a bridal shower for yourself? Please don't, many consider it rude.

Normally, the MOH, a bridesmaid, or a close relative plans your shower. Is there any reason you're planning yours, OP?

I think mimosas/bloody marys are perfect! I've gone out to brunch at 2pm before, so I don't see any issue with it being too "late." They're weekend drinks!

You should not be planning your own bridal shower.

To address the alcohol question (for your hosts!), the hostess of my shower scheduled it for 2 pm on a Sunday and offered wine. But I think brunch type drinks are okay too. Our wedding was a brunch reception that ended at 4 pm, and those were some of the drinks we offered.

Also, I'd like to make a second post to say those drinks would be perfectly fine to have.

Hi Amanda, welcome to WW! Make sure to upload a picture for your avatar (instead of the default icons) so that we can get to know you and tell you apart from all the other posters.

Mimosas and bloody marys are still perfect at 2pm!

My mom aunt and sister (who is my MOH) are planning the shower. But I still want to be a part of it since I will only ever have one and I'm super excited about everything. Thanks for the input!

Amanda - leave them alone and let them plan it. Unless they are asking for your help (which I don't think they should), leave them be and allow yourself to be pampered for the day.

I had my bridal shower on a Sunday around that time and offered mimosas, screwdrivers and champagne punch. I'd drink those at any hour of the day so I think you're good!

I have never been to a bridal shower that doesn't have alcohol so I say go for it.

You definitely need alcohol, but at 2pm my family is ready for beer. Mimosas and bloody marys are an earlybird's game in my family. However, I wouldn't be disappointed if I showed up to those items.

I think either mimosas/bloody marys are fine, but I think beer and wine would work too!

I've been drinking mimosas at night because I'm sampling sparkling wines for the wedding, and it's been fucking awesome. I don't think there's a wrong time for a mimosa.

My MOH is doing my shower at 1:30 for a bridal luncheon. She is leaning towards sangria but I think if they are doing more of a brunch then those drinks are fine. Any alcohol is appreciated! :-)

I'd suggest sangria or wine, or I love someone else's suggestion of champagne punch. But if I went to an afternoon shower and all they had was mimosas, you'd hear no complaints from me! Smiley smile
