Drinks for wedding

Rachel, on July 9, 2021 at 7:40 PM Posted in Wedding Reception 0 9
Hello everyone! For my wedding, I’m planning on having a multitude of different different drinks available. We are going to have beer, seltzer’s, truly lemonades, pop, water, lemonade, coffee, and hot chocolate. The biggest conflict right now is whether or not I should serve wine. Neither me or my fiancé are big wine drinkers and there’s only a hand few of people that prefer wine.

Do you think these options will be more than fine? I just want to be sure!

I like wine, but I still think that’s plenty of options! Plus, while it’s okay to want to drink at a wedding, ultimately that’s not why people should want to come, and so I think it’s totally reasonable to only want to provide things that you think the majority of your guests would like

In your situation, I wouldn't include wine. I like a glass of wine as well as the next person, but if wine isn't available, I choose something else. No one is going to go home and say "oh my gosh, I can't believe OP didn't have wine" - they're going to go home and say "OP's wedding was beautiful, they looked so happy, and wasn't that an awesome time"

I just posted about this in another thread, but you know your crowd! I knew my crowd preferred beer or seltzers but I got it into my head that I needed wine at every table. Omg, what a waste of money. Barely any bottles got opened. I wish I would’ve put that money towards the drinks people actually preferred! Luckily I had enough of everything else. It wouldn’t hurt to get a couple big bottles, but if there’s only a handful of wine drinkers I think the other options you’re providing will work for them!

I would have a few red and white options for your guest who may prefer wine over beer or seltzer. Just my opinion.

I agree with above. A few of the larger size bottles won’t hurt to have on hand.

You know your crowd best. What time of the year is your wedding? For example, I would not expect coffee or hot cocoa in summer or lemonade in winter. A couple bottles wouldn’t hurt.

I think this may kind of depend what you’re serving for beer options.
You know your crowd best, but at first glance the variety doesn’t seem wide ….unless you have a few different types of beer on offer.

I generally agree with the others but I do think some people will want wine or champagne. A few big bottles of Barefoot or Costco brand wine wouldn’t hurt!

I hate seltzers and beer so I wouldn't have an alcoholic drink at your wedding. It wouldn't bother me, but I would note it and if asked to describe the wedding later would probably mention it. Not to say that you were a bad host, but just that it would be so unusual in our crowd that it would be something mentioned.
