Drugstore makeup

Grace, on May 1, 2019 at 8:25 AM Posted in Hair and Makeup 1 12
I’m doing my own makeup for the wedding and I hardly ever wear any so I just want to get it from target since I likely won’t use it much again! What are your favorite liquid foundations, highlighters, lipstick, eyeliner, shadow, etc? My skin is pretty normal definitely more on the oily side and my wedding is June 1 so it could potentially be pretty warm so I want something that can hold up to humidity pretty well!

I would focus on getting makeup that’s long lasting.
For drugstore lipstick Maybelline SuperStay liquid lipstick is very good, long lasting & with color range.
Foundation depends on skin type, pores/wrinkles issues, and how much coverage you want. L’Oreal Infallible line is longwear & has foundations for different skin type, so you can find what fits your skin needs.
For mascara & eyeliner, I would choose waterproof. For dramatic eyelashes I really like Maybelline Falsies mascara. Eyeliner will depend if you’re going for a winged look (you will need a very fine tip, liquid eyeliner) or you’re going for softer, more natural eye (in which case pencil works well).
Lastly, I would really consider investing in a good finishing powder / spray that will ensure your makeup lasts all day & will look good in photos (something that doesn’t contain titanium dioxide, mica & other reflective ingredients). I really like Mac Blot powder but that’s not drugstore lol. Also, this article might help: https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.allure.com/gallery/best-drugstore-setting-powder/amp

I got my eye shadow for the wedding from Target. I got two palettes, one was Maybelline 24k nudes, and the other was a L'Oreal palette. They both seem to work well with the brushes I bought on amazon that were well reviewed. I am awful at eyeliner and recently have started using an angled detail brush to apply dark brown or black eye shadow (with a little water on the brush) as eyeliner and it looks SO much better than any attempt with a pencil or a liquid liner.

I tried several lipsticks and didn't love how they turned out, so I went into Sephora the other day and bought a better quality one. It doesn't dry out my lips and was pretty long lasting. I never wear makeup, so was hesitant to spend the money, but I don't want my lips looking dry/smudged on the day of.

As for the others, I don't wear face makeup so I am unable to help you.

As far as brands you can pick up at Target/drugstores, NYX has some great quality products. Also, Ulta carries Morphe which is a bit of an in-between price point, but their shadows blend well and are better pigmented than a lot of cheaper brands.

I've heard really good things about Wet n Wild's photofocus liquid foundation from a beauty vlogger I like. It's super cheap, so you can always test it out ahead of time and see if you like it. It's supposed to not have any flashback in photos, which will be important on your wedding day!

Depending on what type of lipstick you want, I love Wet n Wild's liquid cat suit matte collection. Again, they're super cheap, but they work so well!

Ohh I might try that foundation! Yeah since they’re so cheap I’m hoping to get a couple and try them this weekend for my bachelorette party! Thank you!

Just following this so I can remember the brands! I have some makeup I plan on using but need to tweak some others like primer and concealer.

I’d like to add that whatever drug store makeup you go with I recommend investing in a good setting spray. Morphe setting mist from Ulta is my choice. Good luck!

Honestly, I would go to Ulta (they have drugstore brands and high end brands) and talk to the employees and tell them that you're looking for some inexpensive makeup for your wedding that will last through the day. NYX is a great inexpensive brand, and so is ColourPop. They will also be able to show you to how to apply it in a way that makes it stay! Morphe is a great eye shadow brand (I also love their setting spray) that is in between drugstore and high-end on the cost spectrum, but it wears like high-end makeup. Highly recommend. You'll definitely want a face primer, and eye shadow primer, and setting powder/spray to make sure that makeup lasts all day. Eco Tools brushes are awesome for the price. My sister used to work for Ulta and said that all the employees used that brand.

I’d like to go to ultra but the closest one to me is just not really that close and I don’t think I’ll make it before the wedding! I might order that morph spray though since that’s not really something you have to see the color of or buy in person! I looked and they have a trio that comes with the spray and primer! Thank you!!
