dw Travel Agent and Resort Recommendations!

Caitlyn, on June 22, 2022 at 10:02 PM Posted in Planning 0 2

Hi everyone! I was wondering if anyone has any recommendations on travel agents they have used? I have submitted a few consultation requests, but am looking for some first hand recommendations. For those of you who have used a travel agent for your destination wedding...was there a service fee or did you pay a deposit that they used in the future for deposits? I have seen mixed answers on this. I am trying to decide if there is a cost if it is worth spending the money on a travel agent or not. Also, if you have any all inclusive resort recommendations please feel free to share! We are looking mainly at Mexico, but are open to other places as well. We are inviting 120 people and hoping only around 75 come (we have a large family that we have to invite). Hoping to keep the price around 15k

We're getting married at Finest, Playa Mujeres in Cancun, 10/14/2023. My fiances sister in law hired a woman from DestinationWeddings.com for her Mexico wedding back in 2017, and 6 of her friends have used the same woman, and I make 7!

I CANNOT RECOMMEND ENOUGH. Her name is Amy, and I will gladly link her info at the bottom of this post!

The way it works: you fill out a form that Amy provides that outlines the areas you're interested in getting married in, your budget, your ideal wedding, how many guests, and your non-negotiables. She then comes back with a list that includes the name, location, cost for your guests to stay (it was important to us that guests could stay for 3 nights for under 1k) and her pro's and con's for the resort.

Once you book: Amy provides you with a DestinationWeddings.com website where you can customize everything. You make virtual Save The Dates (we also did physical ones!) that you will send to your guests. The virtual Save The Date will contain a booking link that takes your guests DIRECTLY to your DestinationWedding website where they can book their stay without ever leaving the site! Amy personally handles ALL the bookings done through the site, and is the direct contact person for all of your guests. It was SEAMLESS. Guest can also talk to Amy directly through the site and she can help them get their flights as well! Transfers are included in bookings so nobody has to try and get to the resort on their own!

    The best part: SHES FREE.

The second best part: you get perks for how many rooms get booked. We are expecting 80 people, and that will amount to $2,000 off of our wedding package. It's determined on a scale, something like 0-10 rooms booked = $750 off, 11-20 rooms booked = $1,000 off, etc.

Amy provided probably 20+ resorts (we could NOT decide) for us within our budget to choose from. We ended up deciding not to visit our resort and throw it all into the wind, and I'm glad we did! It has been relatively stress free, hands off, and I can't WAIT.

Let me know if you have any questions!

    Her contact information is

    a peterson at destinationweddings.com

apeterson is one word, and the at = @. Sorry, weddingwire wont let me post contact info normally!
