dw Welcome/rehearsal Dinner?

Shannon, on June 30, 2019 at 4:11 PM Posted in Parties and Events 0 4

My Fiance and I are trying to decide if we should have a welcome dinner, rehearsal dinner or both. We are getting married in Cabo, MX and will have around 50 guests. The all inclusive resort is asking around 4k for a group dinner..which is insane to me. We were thinking of possibly making a few separate reservations at a restaurant at the resort and trying to get tables next to each other?? Has anyone experienced this before? Or if you had a different welcome dinner/rehearsal what did you find to be the best/more affordable option?

Our original plan was to have a welcome dinner 2 nights before the wedding and a rehearsal dinner for the wedding party, their plus ones, and family the night before. But we think it might be better/more cost effective to combine them both into one and do it the night before.

Let me know!

Thanks!

Do you need a rehearsal? I know we didn’t have a wedding party but honestly it seems like if you have a DOC, they can line everyone up and just tell everyone when/which order to leave at the end. Then you can skip the rehearsal dinner.

A welcome dinner is so nice at a DW! No expensive sit-down plated meal required. See if your venue has an inexpensive taco or fajita bar buffet option.

Since we did a destination wedding too we opted to invite everyone to our “rehearsal “ dinner after we did our official rehearsal. By that time most guests were there and we were able to spend time with everyone. We had it at a local restaurant and called ahead for larger tables for 44 people. Then afterward we all went back to the hotel bar for a while. It was great!

You could do something cheaper, like a welcome BBQ if your hotel has BBQs? And you could buy groceries? Or just do a rehearsal dinner and skip a welcome dinner? Our rehearsal dinner for 65 people at a casual mexican restaurant is $3,000 including food and drink.

    Hey Shannon!

Would it be possible for you to book some tables in a local restaurant close to your hotels for your welcome dinner? You can have a chance to try out some local cuisine and would probably be cheaper than a seated meal in your hotel.

I think it’s totally fine to combine both your rehearsal and welcome dinners together. You can do your rehearsal with your wedding party before dinner and then have a chance to mingle and greet your guests at dinner.
