Dyed hair or no?

Gen, on June 20, 2018 at 9:42 AM Posted in Hair and Makeup 0 20
I have naturally light brown hair, but I often will dye it to a darker brown just because I like how it looks better... and most people in my life say I look my best with darker hair! I’m debating whether or not I should dye it for the wedding. On one hand, of course I want to look my best and I do feel like I look better with darker hair (it matches my coloring better... I have really dark eyebrows for some reason despite my hair being very light...) but on the other hand I feel like it would be more “me” to just keep my natural light hair.

Opinions? Are you guys dyeing your hair for your wedding or keeping it natural?

I'm touching up my roots. I'm naturally a brunette. My stylist does balayage with darker brown and caramel color. I love the look. I'll stick to a more natural look for the wedding though.

    It's truly a personal decision.

I am having my hair colored with the usual coloring I do before the wedding. It is more me than if I wear it natural. It is a personal choice you are going to have to make. And you can't go wrong with either. Just don't die it like a day before or something lol.

Oh yeah of course not the day before haha. I’m thinking of maybe doing it a month before too because then it will have faded a bit and will be somewhere in the middle of “dark” and natural

I do have pictures of both but the photos I have in themselves of me with darker hair look significantly better just because of the quality of the photography so I feel like that will cause inherently biased opinions.

I like how I look better with it darker, but it usually is at its natural color so I feel like darker looks better but less like “me.” Idk, as I said in above comment maybe I’ll dye it like a month or 2 before and let it fade so it’ll be somewhere in the middle

I have naturally blonde hair which I have not dyed for at least 8 years. I used to get highlights. I realized when I looked at pictures of me in wedding dresses from when I went dress shopping that my hair didn’t come out in photos as blonde as I think it looks in person. I’m going to get highlights 10 days before my wedding because I think I’ll feel better about the way I look in my dress and I’ll for sure like the pictures better.

I understsand wanting to look like yourself at your wedding but for me I want to look like myself when I’m looking my best.

If you often wear it darker then it is very "you" to have it dyed. Personally I dye my hair a lot all different colors and have finally decided to go all natural (yay I finally got back my natural hair, now if I can just get it to grow out before the wedding! lol) because I couldn't pick one that would for sure look good and timeless.

some think dyed hair isn't naturally "you" enough for a wedding, but seeing as how everyone gets makeup and some even tans for their weddings, I would say its just another way to be beautiful. That said I would not dye unnatural or trendy colors as the pictures are forever and that style may not be.

I was going to dye mine pink and purple. I haven't dyed my hair in 8 months though so now that I see my natural red I'm undecided. I just chopped almost all of the blue colored hair off and I'm like wait I like my red again lol.

That being said I'd go with the color you feel the most beautiful in. If you color your hair darker quite often then it will look more like you.

How often do you dye it darker? I’ve been dying my hair bright red for 11 years now so it’s more “me” to keep it dyed this color. If you go through phases where you dye it and don’t dye it I would decide based on what you like better and what you rather see when you look back on your pictures.

I think because you’re used to dying it darker and it wouldn’t be your first time, I would go for it! If this is how you feel most confident and beautiful it’s the right choice. xx

I went from being a dark brunette to a platinum blonde two years ago. I’m going to dye my hair back to dark brunette this fall, but still incorporate honey blonde highlights for some depth. I love my blonde so much, I don’t want to part with it completely! But I do want to look (mostly) like my natural self on my wedding day Smiley smile

I have naturally dark brown hair that I usually color auburn. But for my wedding I’m planning on staying pretty natural. I’d do what ever you feel most comfortable in.

I've been dying my hair a pinky red for a few years now and I will definitely have it like that for the my wedding. I feel my most beautiful with it and that makes me comfortable. Do what feels right to you.

I got a fresh balayage in my hair 2 months before my wedding.

I get what what you’re saying about feeling you, but for me for the wedding that meant doing what I would normally do, not necessarily doing all natural. Like if you never dye your hair and don’t want, then don’t suddenly for the wedding just because it looks better. But if you normally dye your hair and you enjoy it, then don’t suddenly not do it just for the wedding. Basically my philosophy was carry on with business as usual. It sounds like dying your hair is the “normal you” so I vote do it!!

I'm a natural dirty blonde but have been a "dark Auburn/ Auburn" for about a year and a half now. Actually DH has never seen me as anything but Auburn- except when my hair goes to strawberry blonde. So it was easy for me to just stay Auburn.

If you do it and enjoy it, I would dye it. If you don't, I wouldn't. It sounds like you like it so I would probably do that Smiley smile

Well, I dye it probably once or twice a year and it lasts for about 3 months each time, which means it is dyed like 3-6 months out of the year. So it is something I do with some regularity, but it’s not like it is dyed all, or even most of the time.

Hmm I see. Don’t feel the need to “stage” your pictures or your appearance either way for your wedding. Just see how you feel. Sounds like it would be “you” either way!

I think you should go with whatever makes you feel comfortable. It's going to be your day that you're going to remember, so I would just think about if you're going to look back and think you shouldn't had your hair one way over the other. It seems like you're more partial to the dark brown hair though.

I’m dying my hair pink, so I say go with what you’re comfortable with! I’m pretty sure if pink was natural, that’s what i would’ve been born with lol.
