Here's a DIY tip for anyone using metallic paint. I learned the hard way but you don't have to. When you use metallic paint, it doesn't cure the same way flat colors do. Even after a week, the metallic paint will rub off on your hands/fingers when handling the item you painted.
Here's the catch - you can't use a clear top coat on metallic paint because it totally dulls the shine to the point where it doesn't even look like metallic paint anymore.
Here's the solution: Once you paint your item, let it fully dry and cure for a week. Then brush on a coat of - wait for it - PLEDGE FLOOR CARE FINISH. This stuff provides an acrylic coating that won't dull the metallic paint.
I spray painted my centerpieces (ceramic deer busts) and table number frames (plastic frames from IKEA) about 2 weeks ago. I applied the Pledge with a brush to all the frames last night and it worked like a charm. (cont. in comments)
