Dying bubble soap?

Dana, on January 17, 2019 at 6:32 AM Posted in Do It Yourself 0 16
Have any of you ladies tried adding food coloring to bubble soap to tint the solution to match your wedding colors?

I want a bubble exit for when we leave the church and I thought it would be a cute idea to add a few drops of food coloring to the bubble solution before I fill the tubes. It wouldn’t be enough to actually stain, but just enough to make the bubble solution a pale lavender color (I’m talking a few drops for a large quantity of solution). I know no one else will notice that the bubble solution matches my wedding colors, but I’ll know haha. I just don’t know how well adding the food dye will mix in (I’m hoping it won’t have an oil and water type reaction) or if it’ll affect the quality of the bubbles.

Has anyone tried this? How did it go?

Never done it or seen it done, but I would hesitate doing this...the dye could transfer onto clothing people are wearing when the bubbles land and 'pop', and I know I would not be happy at all if my clothing was stained by bubbles.

This kind of seems like a waste of time and energy. If you’re not going to put enough dye in to cause stains when they pop (which is good, because that would be awful), then this won’t even show up in photos. Bubbles are too iridescent and transparent and will just look like regular bubbles in pictures. Save your efforts!

Agreed, this sounds like more trouble than it's worth.

I was just thinking that it would look cute in the tube if it was a light purple color 🤷🏻‍♀️ I was planning on putting the solution in a bowl to make sucking it up with the oral syringe and transferring it to the tubes later so mixing in a drop or 2 of the coloring wouldn’t be any extra work besides a few stirs

This won't work. It will ruin clothes and will not give the effect you are looking for. Just use regular bubbles.

I say this coming from someone who has a child and did this with them with color safe dye. It was messy and you couldn't really see enough of a difference to make it worth it.

Easier** not later. I’m filling the tubes myself since it’s significantly cheaper to do so

I wasn’t looking to make the bubbles themselves look purple, literally just the solution lol. I thought it would look cute in the tube if the liquid was purple. Maybe I’m just being too extra haha

Don't they have purple bubble solution already? I've seen pink and I've seen blue. Can you mix them together?

I wouldn't try to dye your own because even if you use the tiniest amount, it's still going to stain if it pops on someone's clothes or your dress.

I tried searching for it on amazon but nothing came up.. I’ll try looking for pink. I’d settle for that!

Even non coloured bubble solution can mark clothing (I work in theatre and wardrobe staff hate bubble machines because they have to get the marks from the bubbles out of costumes) so I sure as hell wouldn’t be adding more colour to the solution.

This is exactly what I was thinking too, I’d be so worried that it would stain, even slightly. Especially on your wedding dress!

Save yourself the stress! Honestly - as awesome as it sounds, it's totally NOT worth staining your dress or anyone else's! We had a bubble exit, and I don't blame you for wanting to do one - because it was wonderful! I would honestly just try to find the most plain looking bottles/tubes (we got a box of 220 on Amazon for like $19 and they were plain white) and if you really want to make them coordinate, add a little purple ribbon with a hot glue gun or add some purple glitter to decorate the tube itself.

TBH i stay away from the send off at every wedding I’ve been to that’s had a bubble send off. Even the clear bubbles pop on you and create stains. Petty as it may be, Id rather not get myself ‘dirty’.

If you insist on a bubble send off, i think pretty tubes are the way to go.

Yeah, wouldn't take the chance on having purple circles all over my ivory gown. Un-dyed bubbles ftw.

There are lots of options for making your containers purple also! That's the route I would go if I was you.purple-heart-bubble-tubes~13645108
