Easiest, cost-efficient way to make DIY photo booth/Selfie Station????

JRA12216, on July 29, 2016 at 2:50 PM Posted in Do It Yourself 0 14

Hi everyone! I need some help!! I am not having a professional photo booth at the wedding because of cost restraints, but I LOVE the idea of doing something like a little selfie station. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to make a free-standing selfie station? What did you use?

Look on Pinterest. There are SO many ideas. My fav I've seen is a backdrop made out of pallets, which you can typically get for free. Then they did some fabric draped on it and props. It was adorable

I actually just bought backdrop stuff via Amazon and used a Michael's 50% of coupon for the rest. Look on etsy for photo booth backdrops and then recreate- that's what I did!

Photobooths are surprisingly less than I thought they would be. I found one for $400 for three hours. Definitely figure up your cost before completely deciding. It might be worth the investment to avoid the hassle.

    Christina said it PERFECTLY.

I thought we couldn't afford one because the first couple places were charging about 1000. We ended up finding ours for a little over $400, and TBH, with a photobooth... they are all pretty much the same thing, so I think searching for a good deal won't take anything out of the quality.

I am making one for my wedding. I'm using PVC pipe. I bought what I needed for that, plus a sequin piece of fabric all for about 30$ with a selfie stick

Thanks for the input everyone! Sarah, that PVC pipe diagram is very helpful, and looks like something i can potentially accomplish!

Tiffany-thanks for the thumbtack suggestion, I did try that but nothing really great came out of it. I did hire my caterer, photographer, and videographer through that app though! It is a wonderful app Smiley smile

We're making a PVC pipe backdrop and my uncle is building a freestanding moon for people to sit on. The props are from the wish app and then I'll get some feather boas and hats and glasses from oriental trading or something. Forgot to add ill have clouds made of paper lanterns with stuffing glued on and ill have glittered and foiled stars hanging

I bought at $50 8x8 banner stand off of amazon. It's not as clunky as the PVC pipe. You can put any curtain on it Smiley smile

Polaroid camera. They are pretty cheap and then you can make a back drop if you want. Set up a little table with the camera and some markers that way your guests can write messages on the photos.

Sarah, I took your suggestion and got the PVC pipe over the weekend and put the frame together. I love it! Now for the fun part.... figuring out how we want to customize it Smiley smile thanks for the suggestion and including the dimensions... it was very helpful!

We bought some selfie sticks from target, printed a free Instagram hashtag sign template we found online and bought some props from Etsy. People had a blast with it, and it was very cheap.

A good Photo Booth to build is expensive... It takes a lot more than the backdrop. Hiring one is probably more affordable than you realize. I'd look at the vendors then look at the cost of all the stuff (unless you happen to have a high volume photo printer, good quality camera, touchscreen laptop, etc).
