East coast brides! mini honeymoon ideas?!

FutureMrs.E, on January 13, 2016 at 7:47 AM Posted in Honeymoon 0 38

Hello brides!

So my fiancé and I are planning on doing a mini honeymoon right after the wedding for a few nights in July and then do a big honeymoon that winter. Does anyone have suggestions for a mini honeymoon around the east coast?? We can't seem to decide!

There are so many options. What do you guys like to do? Do you want a beach honeymoon or hiking or a cabin or a city? Some ideas that come to mind are Burlington, VT because it has tons to do (teddy bear factory, Ben & Jerrys, Cabot cheese), ME for the beaches, Jersey shore, a lake in NH, Cape Cod or Nantucket. There are also the Adirondacks and finger lakes regions in upstate NY if you like hiking. It's beautiful out there.

I'm not sure where on the east coast you're aiming or - I would suggest Maine or cape cod up in the northeast. There are a few wonderful places FH and I have stayed!

Martha's Vineyard or NYC is where I'd head.

Depending on what you are looking for there are so many choices.. There is an extreme adorondack adventure ropes course in NY, a dude ranch in Pennsylvania, the beach in Cape Cod, NYC, hiking in Vermont... I want to see everybody else's ideas though.

It depends what you want and where you want to head? You can do Old Orchard Beach in Maine, lakes in NH, Cape Cod, Jersey Shore, NYC. You can go down the coast to places too (I'm in New England so not familiar with things further south)

What about Newport, RI? It's a really charming town with a rich history, right on the water. It's about a 2 hour drive from your wedding location. I love NYC and always recommend that people visit, but it wouldn't be my first choice for a honeymoon. A NYC vacation is go go go and at least for me, I just wanted to relax.

Ooh, I also like the Finger Lakes recommendation! Especially if you like wine tours. It's more of a pain to get to, but so pretty.

Delaware beaches (Lewes, Rehoboth, Dewey)! We were originally going to do a mini-moon there, but FH surprised me with a trip to Aruba. We will still definitely be making the trip to the Delaware beaches at some point during the year because we always have such a great time.

However, if you are looking for a bit more of a city trip, I'd recommend Boston, MA or Savannah, GA. Probably my two favorite cities on the east coast.

DC and Jersey Shore are not minimoons IMO, I would head south of VA.. Savannah, Outer Banks, Charleston, SC.

Montauk on Long Island is a great choice. I know a bunch of couples that have done that for a mini-moon that lived in NYC. Not sure where you are traveling from.

I would highly recommend NH. There's everything from the beaches to the mountains and there's plenty to do around that time of the year.

I love Martha's Vineyard. Block Island in nice too, but smaller and more expensive. Or if you'd prefer the woods NH has tons on great places to stay.

The Outer Banks is beautiful! Can be expensive to rent a house though, during peak season.
