East coast mini honeymoon suggestions

Julia, on November 11, 2017 at 4:58 PM Posted in Honeymoon 0 17

I'm looking for recommendations on a "mini-honeymoon" destination. We want to save up both money and PTO and go to Europe a year or so after. However, I don't just want to spend a week off chilling at our apartment unwrapping presents! Anyone have good recommendations on romantic places to visit within driving distance of the Philadelphia suburbs area?

Baltimore harbor or NYC. I have friends who like to go to the Finger Lakes in New York state, but I have never been there myself. Or, there's always the Poconos in PA. Even DC could be a nice getaway that's not too far.

Second Cape May for our mini-moon. We stayed at the Queen Victoria and it was gorgeous!

What do you consider "driving distance?"

Depends how far you want to drive and what you want to do. There is the Omni Bedford Springs for a spa getaway. And of course lots of B&Bs in PA. St Michaels on Eastern Shore of MD. You could also consider NY or VA wine country. Most likely wouldn't want to drive this but Montreal might be a nice quasi-European feel a little closer?

I'm from Montco, and recently my parents went to cherry springs state park and loved it. It's about a 4 hour drive, and it would be perfect next fall. You'll have a lovely drive and perfect to see fall foliage. If not anywhere in New England, perfect to see leaves.

    DC for sure.

If you don't mind a longer drive Virginia Beach or Myrtle beach see bother very nice. If you go to Virginia you can also do williamsburg and bush gardens.

Cape may is also gorgeous down the jersey shore and has some great B&Bs

We are considering Maine, either Bar Harbor or Portland. There are a lot of good places on airbnb.

Our wedding was in the Philadelphia suburbs and we live in western MA. We mini-mooned in NYC and had a fantastic time.

My family is originally from Uniontown PA. It's not too far. There are beautiful mountains, caverns, and historic locations if you are into the outdoors

Newport is great but expensive if you're looking to save money, but most of coastal rhode island would be a great destination. It is lovely in September. (Narragansett, Bristol, East Greenwich)
