Edible center pieces?

Sara, on September 9, 2019 at 11:38 AM Posted in Wedding Reception 1 33

What do you guys think of edible center pieces? We aren't planning on cocktail hour, but fiances parents kind of feel like its needed. I'm thinking a good compromise is having edible center pieces. I would have like meat and cheese or veggies and dip as the center pieces for the table. I'd do some nice candles a bottle or 2 of water and some fresh herbs also. Here are some inspiration pictures.

Sounds like a great idea to me! I've seen small cakes as centerpieces, but never cocktail hour apps. I think it's fun and different.

Wow that’s a great idea and it’s useful. And since you aren’t doing a cocktail hour it’s perfect.

Are you taking pictures after the ceremony at all? I think you need a cocktail hour if there is any downtown for guests between the ceremony & reception, but you can skip it if there won't be. I like the edible centerpieces, it's a cute idea as long as someone can set them up right before guests sit down to eat them so they aren't sitting out a long time.

That's pretty cool, actually. I've seen people include cookies into the centerpiece, but not a charcuterie spread. I think that'd be a great compromise, and I might consider removing the food parts of the centerpiece after cake cutting just so you don't have meats and cheese sitting at room temp for too long.

LOVE that idea and look. I could never say no to a sexy charcuterie spread.

I would definitely think about logistics as someone mentioned previously, but think its a great idea.

This would be really cool! Friends of mine didn't have a typical cocktail hour during their wedding. But instead, they left out boxes of Cracker Jack at place settings for their baseball themed wedding.

It's funny you bring this up, I joked with H that we should just have bbq rib centerpieces haha.
I think it's a fun idea! Had we gone with our other venue choice, we would have used cupcakes in our centerpieces.

No pics after ceremony. All the posed pics will be before & there really won't be downtime for guests. This is my rough time line:

    4:30-5ish ceremony

5:30 to 8- 2 food trucks serve food

8:30-9:30- Ice cream truck and wedding cake

DJ will start playing music right after ceremony. Maybe a bit more relaxed music in the beginning but we want to start dancing pretty quickly.
I honestly don't expect to many people to be at their tables for that long. Maybe his parents friends and some family, but all my family and our friends will be up dancing and eating for most of the night.

I am thinking I would use slate as the "cheese board". Slate is good because we could keep them in the fridge before so they would be a little cold. We would be hiring servers so during ceremony they could set everything out. Just an idea right now.. I'm sure it would be easier to just have a spread set out... I just keep changing my mind, but I love the way the table looks.
