eggplant purple and orange... but what shade.

Jamie, on November 8, 2011 at 1:54 PM Posted in Style and Décor 0 31

My wedding is next november and we have chosen eggplant purple and orange. My delimma is which shade of orange. I just cant decide between a softer shade of orange like a peach/orange, or a burnt orange. I also like red roses and orange against a deep purple. makes a bold statement.

Anyway, I would love some insight.

Thanks

    What about a bright orange?

We are also doing eggplant and chose burnt orange and probably splashes of a bright green. Here are a couple pics for you. One of them has the red in the flowers and is super pretty.

Perfect JJ that is my bouquet lol ... we are doing a burnt orange with eggplant, charcoal (smoke) and hints of sage.

Edit: I should say that is the bouquet I'm having done.

@maliburedneck- too funny! I have been looking at that bouquet forever. We also thought about doing charcoal as well but decided to go a bit more fall as it is my fav season.

PerfectfitJJ red and purple=gorgeous! Although I would like it if it was lightened up some. you know, make it kinda "fun and vibrant"

@Jamie- what type of vibe are you going for? Fall colors since you are getting married in November or more bright colors (summer-ish)? I love the red and purple combo- just be careful with how light you go with the red or it is going to take on more of a pink look.

I'm getting married in March and while my colors are more *fallish* the charcoal is light and smokey which will lighten it up a bit Smiley smile These are kind of my inspiration just add in the orange and sage Smiley smile

Jamie S here is another example of purple and orange too Smiley smile

@JJ Im going for the fall colors, but the venue isnt too far from the beach so I was thinking of peach/orange color. I also grew up pretty close to the beach but in a different part of town. So is it weird to want to incoroprate a softer palatte for a fall wedding?.. Kinda like this.

I think a rust orange would look beautiful...especially for a fall wedding. The lighter shades of orange like a peach will make it look more spring like IMO

These are the shades of orange that my fiance chose.... yes, he brought home paint samples from Lowe's. Maybe you can go to Lowe's, find a chip that matches your Eggplant, and play mix & match.

I am doing Lapis (deep purple) and Burnt orange. Here are my inspirations. I love how both colors are bold but not extremely. The burnt orange is a typical fall color but I don't care; I am doing these colors anyway :oP The shoes shown below are my actual shoes that DB dyed for me in Lapis :o) Good luck on your colors!!

My FSIL is doing eggplant and burnt orange for her september wedding. Our bridesmaid dresses are eggplant. I think she might be planning on doing a burnt orange sash for us too.

I think the burnt orange would be fabulous. It seems like it fits with a fall wedding a little more, at least in my opinion. They are all beautiful though!

    Thanks for all your help.

BreJá B: I love your shoes, did you get them from DB? and I feel pretty much the way you do about the purple/orange combo. I love that the orange pops against the purple dresses.

I'm also purple and orange. I think miy orange will be burnt orange, as that's the original shade of orange I fell in love with. And our "weekend" car is a dodge charger that's in Plum Crazy Purple, it's been kinda like our baby so I really want to include it. I haven't decided on other colors though. I like deep red, and my birthstone is Garnet. His birthstone is Amethyst so he's easily involved.
