Electronic Save the Dates

Michaunda, on November 16, 2017 at 8:45 PM Posted in Do It Yourself 0 12

Hello, I'm debating on sending my save the dates via email to my guest, using paperless post. Anyone else using email to send invites?

I believe that weddings require actual paper invites. evites are fine for birthday parties, but an extra effort should be made for weddings. Plus, chances are I'll forget about an evite I get two months before the event. I can put the paper invitation on the fridge or somewhere else that I can easily see. Another problem would be older guests who might not use or feel comfortable with evites. In many circles, wedding evites would be seen as lazy.

I wouldn't do email save the dates. No.

STDs...I didn't realize until I was on WW that you really only need to send those to your VIPS, if you do them at all. Sometimes couples find the need to cut the guest list & you can't do that if you send a STD to everyone.

Personally, I would be fine with a STD via FB private group or private msg.

I would definitely send a paper invite & hand written thank you card though.

I think it's fine to do electronic STDs. It's no less formal than calling someone to let them know the date.

The actual invitations need to be paper though

I'm doing electronic STDs. If I had all the money in the world I'd send one, but we won't have our engagement pictures done for a while anyway so it's not like it needs to be a gorgeously printed picture. Our invites will be paper but RSVPs will be online to save on inner envelope, stamps, and rsvp cards.

I just skipped them all together.

I did get in contact with any out of state guests just to give them a more advanced notice.

We did electronic STDs through Paperless Post. They were cheap and we loved them. They also have a mailing address feature so guests can send you their addresses. We got about half our addresses that way. Agree with PPs to not send out STDs to anyone that's not a VIP, just in case you need to cut the guest list later.

We're doing paper invitations though (but with an online RSVP). I wouldn't do an electronic invitation.

If most of your guest will have to travel, I would consider just doing a Save the date postcard with the location on it. People made the e-invite more complicated with my girlfriend's wedding because they did not take the time to click on the wedding site to see the information. It was stressful for no reason. Also, they had a problem with people just RSVPing without actually making sure they were able to come, just to get it done. So they ended up having about 50% of the RSVPs not show.

We're sending electronic save-the-dates (sent as a nicely designed card in Mailchimp so it looks a bit more formal), with paper invites. The nice thing of the e-save-the-date is it links right to our website where all the updated information will be. No need to go hunting down the piece of paper when you want to look something up Smiley smile
