Hi, My husband and I originally planned our wedding for May 2020, that got postponed to September 2020, then May 2021. We eloped in October 2020 and felt we would have our big celebration in May 2021. We did tell everyone we did elope, and it would be a vow renewal in May 2021.
My son and family would be traveling from Canada and even though they would need to quarantine for 14 days upon return, Canada just recently started very rigid international travel restrictions, that would make it very difficult for them to return. They would need to stay in a hotel for 3 days, get a COVID test, etc. prior to guaranteeing at home (all at their expense). They also have an 18 month old, so isolating in a hotel room for 3 days is just not a good thing.
I'm so frustrated to have to keep moving this, but it's important I have my son and family here. That being said, we were able move the date to September 2021 in the hopes things will be better and the international travel restrictions will loosen up a bit by then.
My question is, when we send out another "save the date", and so much time has passed, do we call it a wedding celebration, a vow renewal, skip the wedding part and just have a reception?? I've even thought of canceling the whole thing.... 4th times a charm??
