Elopement in Maui...Help!

Tori, on July 30, 2017 at 7:13 PM Posted in Hawaii Planning 0 13

Hello! After months of going back and forth my Fiancé and I decided on eloping in Maui. It will just be him and I. I want to have a ceremony on the beach (or really any gorgeous natural backdrop!) with a photographer, however all of the packages we are finding do not start less then $800 and that is not even counting the photographer. We want to keep the day as simple and as cheap as possible with plenty of money to spend on our 2 week trip. Does anybody have any advice on what might be our best option? The wedding will be in the fall of 2018 and as far as area goes we are open! Hana is stunning, however not a requirement by any means =) Thank you in advance, any advice is appreciated as we are not picky just looking to have a special day! EDIT- We are not going to Maui to be "cheap" I obviously realize that Maui is not cheap. I just feel like $800 for an officiant and a spot on a public beach is not worth it.

Maybe find an Airbnb that's on the water and then just find a photographer and officiant, instead of looking into packages. Kuaui is really pretty.

Find a local officiant, a public beach, and a photographer that will do only a couple of hours.

So.... maui is NOT cheap. It's beautiful, and I wish I had advice to give... grand Waileu has a private beach. Perhaps a ceremony there?

Cheap and Maui do not belong in the same sentence.

We played around with elopements in Hawaii and found a package on the big island that was perfect. Given there isn't anything too crazy to do on the big island but there is volcanos and Kona(where we're staying) and the beautiful Waipio Valley. We went with packages from Infinite Bliss Weddings, Sophorn and her husband are making the process so easy and all the money they make from the weddings go straight to their non profit which I absolutely loved. We got an elopement with photography & video for about $700, so if you're not fully committed to Maui take a look maybe at the Big Island

I think cheap and Maui do not belong in the same sentence.

800 to me sounds reasonable. You have a year to save that money. If you put away like 85 dollars a month, that's your ceremony there.

My first wedding was in Hawaii. We used the following company. They were amazing and I have recommended them for years! They have affordable packages and will work with you to customize a ceremony in your price range!

Obviously we are not going to Maui expecting cheap, however an officiant and a location with no photographer or anything else included is just not worth $800 to me. We are already saving monthly for the big trip. We are not eloping to save money. We are eloping because we do not want to take on the stress of a wedding however both love to travel. =) I like the idea of getting ahold of photographers and officiants. I am open to looking into the big island, as we are considering extending our trip and visiting a few different islands. Does anybody have any more ideas for beaches? I am overwhelmed by all of the possibilities! =)

When you buy a package, you are often paying for services you don't want or need, including a fee for the person who puts together the package. Find an officiant and a photographer, than ask them for suggestions for a site.
